Which only illustrates how much a pretentious snob Bernard is. He only suggested the Lynch picture because he probably figures Short Circuit is "for philistines". Near the end of the movie, when he's getting in the ambulance, doesn't he say he took his wife on a movie date to see a Godard film? The guy clearly has no clue
about handling such things.
Gotta add the whole immature exchange during the meeting with the principal at Frank's school.
Principal: "I suppose it's possible other kids are masturbating and spreading their semen around the school as well... Possible, but somewhat, uh, unlikely."
Bernard: "Oh it happens I'm sure much more than we know"
Joan: "Bernard have you ever done anyting like that?"

So many good moments in this movie--good and uncomfortable. Probably the best movie I've seen which captures how divorce is for those involved. I think that they include the cat as part of their joint custody agreement was a nice touch.
The end of the movie with that Lou Reed song playing was cool.
The scene where Barnard tries, in vain, to save his marriage by promising to make more meals and Laura Linney just busts out laughing. I almost felt sorry for him.
When Barnard does a reading of his book with a sparse crowd. He views himself as this great artist, constantly dropping Mailer, but can't get more than 15 people to come see his book reading.
The scene where Walter and his friends are talking about having sex--one of them says something like "I bet she moves her **&ssy real good".
That whole scene is hilarious, from the "who's Hector?" to the "and of course, Frank's mother divorced me earlier this year, which also might have something to do with it."

I also like when he signs the book for his son "Best Wishes".

when they sit the boys down to tell them they are seperating and right before the mom sits on the couch you hear a toilet flush and a door open and the older sun waves the air around his nose like it stinks and goes Ahhhh mom! and she says "Sorry"

The funniest scene is when Ivan and Bernard are arguing about Franks one handed back hand. Bernard says something like, McEnroe uses it and is the master of the chip game." Then Bernard asks Ivan if he wants to hit, and you see him getting his ass kicked.
Its funny watching bernard who is in tight jeans and a collared shirt, sweating and not being able to keep up with the game.

The great thing about dropping-the-meal-on-the-floor-scene, was Frank watching and rushing in to tell Walt : "he dropped the burgers on the floor". And then a little later during the meal, he tests his father by asking : "why did you say goddammit?"
When they are out to eat with the older sons girlfriend and she gets out some money to offer to pay, and you're thinking, "any normal person would refuse the money," but he takes it without even thinking about it with no exchange of words, just so fitting his character.

Also when he is talking with the therapist and says, "Is that a PhD" and he goes, no its a Masters, and you know after that he's not going to have any respect for him, like someone with a master's is a total idiot.

I thought some funny scenes involved the older son.
Like when he said to that kid,out of nowhere,"Your Dads fu*king my Mom".
Or when he said to that girl after kissing her, "i wish your face didnt have so many freckles"

when i first saw the n scene i was grossed out fir ten minutes then i got the connectionn to the begining
