The Lance Armstrong Scene

With all this stuff about his doping and being stripped of his wins.. For some reason all I thought of was this movie! Not such an inspiration now, is he..

reply

When I just saw his scene come up, all I could think about was wow, he is isn't going to be in movies anymore.

Keep the scene and just have it dubbed with him explaining how great he thinks he is by cheating

reply

I know, that's all I could think of too. I used to love this scene, slight water in my eyes too. But now it just all seems so empty, and I know every time I watch it from now on, it'll be like cheat, doping, and he basically ruin the most inspirational part of the whole film.

reply

The truth is he will be edited out in future TV broadcasts of the movie. I hope in re-releases (most likely on Blu-Ray) they will have to feature a scene with Michael Jordan explaining how he quit basketball to baseball and then came back and won 3 more championships for the Chicago Bulls.

reply

It was on tv last night here in the UK and he wasn't edited out. I completely forgot he was even in it, it's probably the funniest scene in the movie now.

reply

I love your outlook on the whole thing, billypilgrim. It so is!

reply

You're right Billypilgrim. It makes more sense to leave the scene in. It is a comedy after all.

reply

They should just make clear the film is set in 2004. And maybe add a voiceover.

reply

You misread the context of my post. They could just make it set in 2004 and have the voiceover acknowledge the year (NOT the Lance thing). So when Lance's scene comes the audience then get the "joke".

Or they could do an outro like the end of Ted where they say where all the characters are now.

Precisely....just saw it, and it is even funnier to me now knowing what we know.

Face it, everyone knew all cyclists were doping in 2004 when this movie was made anyway.

Whose idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have an "S" in it?

reply

As of tonight, flaco, your statements not so "true" at all. Insider who got confused or pretend know-it-all?

reply

And don't get me wrong, I totally respect his plight (hope I spelled that right), and I'm not mad at him; but, its a PR thing...

reply

The truth is he will be edited out in future TV broadcasts of the movie.

he wasnt edited out the other night here either. it is a littlw weird though

reply

It's called, "Hilarious In Hindsight".

"Andy! You goonie!"

Calling this movie a "True Underdog Story" with Lance makes the scene all,the more funnier!

reply

Yeah, in a sick, wicked way. I like it.

A picture with a smile - and perhaps, a tear.

Just watched the scene on TV and it was still him and its not really funny or anything now. The guys a cheater, not a winner so him talking about going on...just makes me hate the guy even more and I once thought he was a bona fide bad a$$.

reply

I wonder if any of the producers believe he ruined Dodgeball.

O.J. Simpson was in a few movies, including The Towering Inferno (1974) and the Naked Gun movies. He hasn't been edited out.
Same for Gig young (murder/suicide with wife).
And there's Joe Son, who was in Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (1997)--kidnapping , rape, murder.

It's apparently not the traditional procedure to expunge evildoers after-the-fact.

Mike Tyson has appeared in movies after being convicted of rape.

There's been a lot of that 'sports-hero-gone-bad' thing going on in the past few years.

reply

Yeah, but they got a thumbs up from Chuck Norris!!!! ;-)
