I was thinking schizophrenia and even multiple personality disorder- the later because when he is Shooter, he doesn't remember his true identity.
Schizophrenia for sure though. He showed a lot of the positive symptoms of it at the end (hallucinations- both verbal and auditory and delusions thinking he had to kill his wife..but the delusion part mixes in with multiple personality so that could be either one).
He definitely does not have schizophrenia. I'm actually writing a paper on Mort Rainey right now for my psych class and was planning on saying he had dissociative identity disorder, but then I saw this thread. Schizophrenia sounded a little off to me, so I asked my mom (who is a clinical psychologist), and she said it doesn't really fit him. She actually said that DID doesn't fit him perfectly either, since he starts to become aware of his other identity towards the end of the movie, but it's a better match than schizo.

Ask your mom for some more details if you actually want to add to this thread. Psychologist argue about the definitions and diagnosis of disorders. There really is not definitive answer.
shareSchizophrenia, contrary to the popular belief (and the etymology) does not involve multpiple personalities. A person with schizophrenia has hallucinations, most of the time auditive, and sometimes visual (some people believe that Joan of Ark was a schizophrenic for example).
shareHe suffers from hallucinations and multiple personality disorder. Not sure about schizophrenia.
sharehe was schizophrenic but it was probably made worse by the circumstances he was dealing with in his life
shareIt is simply that, in both movies and real life, he keeps marrying bisexuals.
shareIt is more possible to be DID - Dissociative Identity Disorder, than Schizophrenia.
