I thought she was very stupid and I found the end to be very unrealistic. Who in their right mind would stay at Mort's place to see him after seeing the mess, the almost empty bottle of Jack Daniels, and the crazy stuff carved in the wall all over the house? Anyone in their right mind would've got the hell out of there. But what does she do? She goes upstairs to look for him. Anybody else would've ran out of there so fast. When Ted wanted to go with her when she wanted Mort to sign the divorce papers, she told him not to. She figured he would set him off. But she gets to the house and she sees things like that and she doesn't think he's already off to the point where he's dangerous? So ridiculous.

I also like how after she fell and hit her on the rock, she just lied there like she was paralyzed. When Ted arrives, she doesn't yell, "Hey Ted, watch out he has a shovel and he's going to kill you!". Retaaarded

I doubt she suspects that Mort has gotten so bad that he would kill her.

We also don't know what he was like during their marriage. We know that he has had some alcoholism issues in the past. Maybe he was pulling crazy stuff like that back then too? If so, she wouldnt think twice about seeing those symptoms again.

She needed his signature. Plus she thought she could maniplulate him, cf the phone conversation where she pretended to cry. Plus it's a movie - a real fun game by Koepp, suspend disbelief.

That's why I'm not a fan of Stephen King. That and his wordiness.

Compare his ending of "The Shining" with Kubrick's.

Even "Misery" had a weak ending. The old "she's dead... WAIT she's NOT!" C'mon.
