Twelve years. Twelve years, and...

...there still hasn't been a newer zombie film that surpasses this in quality.

12 years, and it still reigns as the movie which pretty much killed off any interest in zombies for me. This movie never worked for me, and neither did 28 Days Later for that matter.

Don't give up the fight for truly independent cinema!

I think Zombieland comes pretty close to this film. Just saw both movies recently and still love them.

Though personally I hate the idea of running zombies. I always figure zombies were slow and had to limp around because their "mindless" and lack the mental capacity to run. I know it's meant to add tension, but I don't know, zombie movies in general are kind of hard to write well.

It's like the whole superspeeding vampire idea. That was never one of their original traits, but pretty much everything involving vampires now has to have Flash-vampires. What's next? Frankenstein monster knowing how to fly?

Also while I haven't seen REC yet, I find it's US counterpart Quarantine more unwatchable with each sitting. Everyone was just so damn stupid in that movie. They restrain Judy from Two and a Half Men, but not the actual zombies. Yeah those characters are asking to get killed.

What is REC?

A movie which is unknown by comparison.

Have you heard of the movie Quarantine? If so, REC is the original Spanish version that it's based on. Almost shot for shot with a few differences here and there, but REC is done so much better.
