FNTM Week 2: Movie Genres + Backstage Beauty (Elimination Up!)

Tensions have already risen to extreme levels in only the second week in the competition. It is clear that each model passionately wants to be Fantasy Next Top Model and land the coveted FW 2017 Prada campaign and Vogue Italia cover. Several girls are already tense as they file into the judging room because of a dramtic incident that occurred at the photoshoot which carried over into the house. Tyra is there to greet the models sweetly.

"Hello ladies. Glad to see all of you have made it to the second week but for one if you it will be your last. Let's say hello to our magnificent judges.

Sassy and fierce supermodel Naomi Cambpell.

Exquisite and lovely supermodel Ashley Graham.

And we have a new judge joining us. She's an icon in the fashion industry who got her start in high fashion before rising to superstardom. Let's give a warm welcome to the stunning and amazing Kimmora Lee Simmons!"

The models cheer and welcome Kimmora. "I'm so happy to be here and to be part of this process. Thank you for having me," says Kimmora kindly.

"I am so happy that our panel consists of a diverse group of women who've had to face and overcome obstacles in the fashion industry. It is such a pleasure to work with these judges I must say," says Tyra.

"Let's talk about the prizes for a second. An only girl campaign with Prada, a cover of Vogue Italia, and Lancome beauty contract. What a fantastic package! Alright, let's get started."

Tyra takes her seat among the other judges. "So at this week's photoshoot you all had the opportunity to convey a movie genre of your choice. I'm really curious to hear what the judges have to say about each shot. You also had a challenge in which you had to be photographed at a runway show. We wanted to see if you could look editorial during a chaotic show. We've decided on a challenge winner and that girl will be revealed during the elimination ceremony.

Now let's jump right in. The first model up is Kendall."

Kendall struts forward gracefully, looking elegant and soft.

"You're looking more modelesque this week, I must say. Love the minimalist ensemble and your hair tied back like that," says Tyra. "How do you think your shoot went?"

"I really wanted to do something a bit darker and more eerie and show that I can be more high fashion," says the model.

"What did you try to convey?" asks Tyra.

"Horror," states the model.

"Let's see your best shot!"

Ashley: Are nipples considered horror? I do like the look though, it just seems kind of plain, and it looks like I could do this in my own back yard “#nips”
Tyra: There is something very menacing about your gaze. You definitely fit the role of a killer out for revenge. What I love about this shot is that it is very cinematic and also unsettling. It's a subtle shot but nevertheless quite haunting. Great job!
Kimmora: I actually REALLY like this from you. Its very quietly haunting. Photos like these are what makes me go back and forth about your actual editorial abilities. Great job.
Naomi: Very edgy and mysterious. I love it! Reminds me of Rocky Horror Picture Show.

"Thank you Kendall. Up next is...Catherine."

Catherine steps forward and greets the judges sweetly.

"What movie genre did you choose to convey?"

"Sci-Fi," states Catherine.

"Here's your best shot."

Ashley: My first reaction when seeing this picture was ‘Meh’ I just felt very underwhelmed by this, with minimal styling you really have it bring it home with everything else and the wardrobe really lets you down because it looks like something I could make with some plastic sheeting and binder rings. And nipples don’t help you much either “#nipsdontwin”
Kimmora: I really just love you. Your face is one that just stays stuck in the back of my mind long after I've moved on from your photo. But we are working with a theme here and unfortunately I'm not getting sci-fi.
Tyra: That face is absolutely stunning! I am blown away by your beauty. I'm getting a sort of Edward Scissorhands vibe from this shot. You, to me, look like the creation of a mad but brilliant inventor. There is a hollowness about this shot but your eyes are very emotive to me. Well done!
Naomi: I see sexy alien creature. Your face could tempt anyone, I love it!

"Thank you," says Catherine kindly. "I really appreciate all of your feedback."

"Thank you Catherine. Up next is...Issa!"

Issa walks forward nervously but still holds her head up high.

"You seem a bit nervous, Issa. What's going on?" asks Tyra.

"I just really want my photo this week to be better than last week. I tried to do something really creative this time and I hope you like it."

"What genre are did you choose?"

"Supernatural horror."

Naomi: Horror is right. This photo is a horror! Your face is very unattractive here and you look constipated. Looks like an ad for pepto bismol. Sorry but you haven't impressed so far in the first two weeks.
Tyra: I disagree with Naomi on everything she has said about you. To me you have one of the most avant garde looks in this competition. There is something very ethereal and haunting about this shot and you do a wonderful job at being a ghost. I believe the story here. Brilliant job!
Ashley: I like and don’t like this picture I love the smoke effects but I can barely see your face, and I don’t like the pose because in this pose its hard to sell anything, so your just selling me ethereal which is nice, but you could have pushed it further “wheres my vape?”
Kimmora: This is way beyond a great photo. An amazing model, stylist and photgrapher came together to create actual ART. I could not be prouder.

"Thanks Issa. Next up is...Mica! This week you ended up conveying Musical Comedy. Here's your best shot!"

Tyra: I like the youthfulness of the shot. It's a great commercial picture but it's not high fashion to me and you're one of the most high fashion girls here. I was hoping for more from you. Last week you did much better.
Ashley: Ugh, this is just sad, I feel like you went through your camera roll and submitted this to us, I don’t get fashion except for your friend whos kind of outshining you in this picture, I don’t like the pose, I don’t like the hair, and if this round showed anything, nipples can only get you so far, but not far with me ‘#downwithnips”
Kimmora: (pauses) I actually hate this. Face basic, pose odd. I know you're better than this.
Naomi: Girl, the other chick is upstaging you and that's not good. You are a beautiful model but you need to bring in order to make it long in this competition.

Mica tearfully states, "I just wanted to do something different this week. I wanted to be bright and beautiful and do something happy. I love musicals."

"You can be bright and happy and still be high fashion though," states Tyra. "And this is simply not reading editorial."

"I'm sorry," cries the model. "I wanna be better than this."

"I believe you can be," says Tyra.

"We all do," adds Naomi. Both Kimmora and Ashley nod their heads in agreement.

"Thank you Mica. Next up is...Tian!"

Tian struts forward elegantly and greets the judges. "I did Film Noir," states the model.

Tyra: Stunning, very Hitchcockian. You did an exquisite job at the shoot! Love the intensity in your eyes and the contrast between shadow and light. Very cinematic!
Ashley: and that is how you jump to the top of the list, this gives me everything, the lighting is great but even without it, I think this would be a great shot. Love the styling, and the face is everything, top of the pack for sure, one of my favorites “here comes the sun”
Kimmora: One of my favorites this week. I looked at this for a long time and found myself coming back to it over and over again. You were born to do this.
Naomi: Mysterious, gorgeous, within the genre and very modelesque! I am a fan of you!

Thanks Tian! Up next is Hanne!"

Hanne struts down the runway to be greeted by the judges. She appears a bit nervous as she moves forward to them.

"Hanne, before we look at your picture I want to talk about an incident that happened at the photoshoot. The client overheard you talking down other models at the photoshoot and then also overheard an incident that occurred shortly after the shoot was done."

Hanne takes a deep breath before she speaks. The model sighs sadly and then says to the judges: "It started when I said I didn't think Karlie did a really good job at the photoshoot. Imaan and Issa got upset and started defending Karlie. I said that I didn't think that Karlie was giving it her all and that she was playing it safe in all her poses. I didn't want to lie and cheer her on. I just thought she could have done a better job."

Several models roll their eyes at that statement.

"After Karlie's shoot, I felt that Karlie, Issa, Kendall and Imaan ganged up on me. I knew they were whispering about me so I got loud. I admit that I said some things that were wrong, like that I didn't think Issa was a model and that Kendall was a dull model and that I thought Imaan would be in the bottom three due to her performance at the shoot. I felt like they were all glaring at me during my shoot."

"Hanne, it seems to me like you were putting the other girls down because you feel insecure and the way you acted at the photoshoot was completely unprofessional. This is a business, Hanne, and it is so important that you be professional at every photoshoot. Otherwise word will get around and people will blacklist you in this industry. You're not on top, Hanne."

"I just feel really insecure sometimes so I lash out. I really am not as confident as I try to be. It was a mistake and I am sorry," cries the model, tears forming in her eyes.

"Hanne, it so important that you be professional on the job. You can't make any excuses for your behavoir. It was simply unacceptable. Let this be a lesson in humility. Keep the drama at home and focus on yourself instead of others," says Tyra seriously and sternly. Hanne wipes tears from her eyes as Tyra speaks. "You did Scifi. Let's see your best shot."

Naomi: Girl, I can barely see your face! The genre is overshadowing you! I don't like the pose, it's too contrived.
Ashley: I like this picture, the clothes are interesting to fit the theme too, and you still look great with a glass globe on your head, and modeling through that gives you some points, I cant tell if your leaving earth or a visitor to earth, either way good job “phone home”
Kimmora: You managed to give face even whilst said face was in profile position enclosed by a decorated glass…ball? Well done.
Tyra: This is a very good shot. The clothes and the glass globe look great on you and your profile is lovely.

Hanne thanks the judges and as she turns to walk back to her spot tears fall down her face as she feels this very well may be her last night in the competition. Several other girls take deep breaths as the atmosphere in the room is becoming even more intense and overwhelming.

The models file back into the room, each one afraid that it might be their last time in this judging room. Tyra appears before them somberly holding the photos in her hands.

"The judges have deliberated for a long time and we've come to a conclusion on who shall be sent home this week. I only have eleven photos in my hands and these eleven photos represent the models who will be moving on the competition. The model who's name I do not call must immediately return to the house, pack her bags, and leave this competition forever."

Anna glances around nervously and sighs. Hanne begins trembling in despair, wiping tears from her eyes. Bianca takes a deep breath and holds her hands together in prayer, anxious and hopeful to be spared. Mica is weeping quietly in the back row to herself.

"The first name I am going to call is best photo of the week. This photo will be displayed in the house for one week as digital art."

Nadja prays to hear her name, hopeful that this week she will come out on top. Tyra reveals the first picture.

"Tian, congratulations. You get best photo this week."

The called model smiles brightly as she struts forward towards Tyra to receive her picture. "Tian, this photo is brilliant. I can see that your head is in the game and that you want this badly. You should be proud that you've been so focused on the competition because this week you did the best. Keep up the amazing work!"

"Thank you so much," says the model, grateful for receiving best photo and proud that her hard work is paying off.

"You should be proud. Congratulations, you're still in the running towards becoming Fantasy Next Top Model."

The saved model takes her photo and struts gracefully over to the sidelines where she watches the rest of the elimination ceremony.

"Who's runner up for best photo?" Tyra reveals the next picture.

"Nadja. From the bottom almost to the top."

The model can hardly believe that she's heard her name as she struts down the runway to Tyra, grinning from ear to ear. When she meets Tyra she is told, "This week you really stepped it up. This photo is so beautiful. If you continue to produce shots like this I know you will go far."

"I'm going to work even harder next week. I really want that first callout," states the model as she takes her photo.

"We believe in you, Nadja. Congratulations. You've proven to us that you are one to watch out for."

The model then thanks Tyra and the judges before making her way over to the sidelines where she is embraced by Tian. Suddenly more tensions arise in the room as the next two names are called.

"Binx. Another great photo. You did a stellar job this week!"

"Issa. Congratulations."

Hanne begins to tremble as Mica continues sobbing. Anna places her hands against her face in agony, worried that it's over for her. Bianca tries to stay strong and keep believing that she will make it, but her nerves begin to eat at her.

"Catherine. You're still in the running towards becoming Fantasy Next Top Model."

"Imaan."

Hanne watches jealously as Imaan moves to safety as it turns out her prediction was incorrect. More tears fall from her eyes. The saved model greets Tyra, thankful to still be in the running.

"Imaan, you took a risk and it paid off. This photo is beautiful. Congratulations, you're still in the running."

"Thank you so much," says the model, smiling graciously. She moves over to the sidelines where she is hugged by Issa and Catherine. Hanne continues trembling with agony and despair, barely keeping herself together.

"I only have five photos in my hands," states Tyra before calling the next name. Mica looks forward longingly, praying to spared. Tyra reveals the next photo.

"Karlie."

Karlie passes an agonized Hanne without noticing her at all and then struts down the runway to greet Tyra happily. "This photo was a huge improvement from last week," says Tyra. "I know you have it in you to pull out best picture. We're hoping you will do even better next week. Congratulations! You're still in the running towards becoming Fantasy Next Top Model."

Karlie takes her picture and thanks Tyra and the judges and makes her way over to the sidelines. Kendall begins panicking at this very moment, worried that she's not going to be saved.

"Kendall."

The model cries tears of joy as she makes her way down the runway to Tyra. "Kendall, this photo proved to us that you can be more than just a commercial girl. Congratulations. We're excited to see what you'll produce next week."

As Kendall makes her way to the safe zone Tyra glances sadly at the remaining models. Bianca's strong exterior begins to unravel as her real emotions begin to appear, reality beginning to sink in that she may very well go home this week.

"Anna. You're staying another week but we want to see more versatility from you. You must blow us away next week because in just one week the competition has already gotten so tough. Don't fade away."

"I'll do my best," states the model truthfully. She takes her photo and moves over to the sidelines.

"I only have two photos in my hands. Who escapes the bottom 2 this week?" Tyra reveals the next picture.

"Bianca."

The model clasps her hands together in disbelief. As she moves forward to Tyra tears form in her eyes.

"You know what you need to do, Bianca. You can't rest on being sexy in this competition. We need to see another side of you if you're going to make it far in this competition."

"I won't let you down," she says tearfully as she takes her photo.

"Congratulations, Bianca. You're still in the running towards becoming Fantasy Next Top Model." The saved model moves over to the sidelines.

Tyra glances somberly at the remaining two models. "Will Hanne and Mica please step forward?"
