Courtney ignoring Jason Derulo

HILARIOUSSSSS. He's not effing Michael Jackson lol he's a nobody. I hate when they act like these D list celebrities are royalty.

One thing about his cycle. It's more about the judges and the guests than it is about the girls.

reply

Why is almost everyone a musical/choreographer guest? As someone else said, 2 dance themes in a row? They should have called this a different name and made it a spinoff.

I literally cannot name a single song of his, but it's still basic politeness to say hello to someone you're working with.

What I've got in my head you can't buy, steal, or borrow. I believe in live and let live.

reply

But...but...he's expensive, according to Drew. lol

reply

DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH ALL THIS STUFF COSTS?! DO YOU UNDERSTAND HOW MUCH I COST???!!! WE WERE ALL ROOTING FOR YOU!! HOW DARE YOU!!!!!!!

reply

Good one, ciara!

Consider the daffodil. And while you're doing that I'll be over here looking through your stuff.

Remember that one time Kyle quoted that phrase and then was sent home that week?

I also love how after her story now everyone else is coming up with excuses for Courtney as to why she's not performing.

It doesn't matter. Jason didn't know she was nervous, he doesn't know about all of the stuff she has going on and neither will any of her clients in the future so she can't hinge her whole career on sliding by on excuses. I know it's not fair, but neither is modeling.

And Drew is kind of right, setting up photo shoots is expensive and the client is putting their money and reputation on the line for this so as a model you have to always be professional and bring your A-game. Just one bad experience with a client, no matter what the reason, can get you blacklisted. Hopefully she understands that and gets everything under control, she has a lot of potential.

reply

I dunno, I feel like a lot of what goes into the shoots is probably free because the photog/set people/costume designers/hair stylists etc get free publicity. But maybe I'm overestimating the appeal of being shown on ANTM lol.

reply

I agree that a model definitely needs to maintain a level of professionalism but he was acting kind of like an unraveling diva, the comment about having "lots of friends" in the industry that will never work with her again was absolutely nasty. Kind of just drove it home that it really doesnt matter if youre amazing and talented, its all about who you know...which for me, is not an inspiring or good message for anyone wanting to get into the industry. For many many years Tyra crafted an image of the show that yes,the industry is a harsh place, but if you work hard and practice you can overcome the obstacles and succeed. Drew kind of just threw that whole image out the window with that one catty comment. I thought it crushed the spirit of the show actually.

That's the harsh truth about working in any industry. So much of my work comes from networking and word-or-mouth, and on the flip side I've lost out on a job on a more personable candidate despite us both being telling me I was qaulified talent-wise.

That was always a lie that we sell to gullible young girls.

reply

Drew was threatening her in that video. There is more cause for concern with someone like Marissa than Courtney who was making excuses for herself. I think if you are exceptional, then you can be your own person and overcome these obstacles. But these models are average, so they have to be even more nice and courteous and respectful. But Drew coming at her like that only showed his lack of professionalism, not hers.

Who else besides Marissa said something?

I was referring to people on the boards. Not you, it's just a general thing people do, especially for Courtney because of her life situation. And I feel for her, but the fashion industry won't.

Quangtran is 100% correct that the fashion industry is like almost every other media industry in that connections and perceptions actually get you farther than pure talent or even how hard you work. That's probably why this whole season is "Sell Your Soul"-themed.

I'm also interested if the only reason people here hate Drew is because he yelled at Courtney. Again--he doesn't know her story, and even if he did his point still stands. You can only give someone so many passes before they need to be held responsible for their actions.
Also Drew is also the only judge who works with the girls on set and actually sees how they work with the photographer, he's also really the only judge who has experience as the client, not the worker.
