I thought it was Dustin Hoffman the whole movie, which kind of ruined it for me, b/c he gets on my nerves.

I thought the same thing several times. It's mainly the way he twists his mouth.

I just finished watching the movie, and yes, he looks like Dustin Hoffman. I had him as a cross between Dustin Hoffman and Alan Thicke. (And there's a tiny bit of Simon Cowell in there too..)
