His weight..

In this film he is so thin, does anybody know what he did to make himself gain all that weight and muscle for batman begins? Anybody know which diet he went on to gain all that weight back?

I'm quite slender, although not as slender as Bale in 'The Machinist'. When i put in the effort to try and bulk up a bit i always manage to get the flu. I'm not sure if it is directly related to the body having difficulty adapting to change at such a quick rate.

Have to say though, i'm not fitness guru or anything like that, but what Bale did in that space of time is nothing short of a miracle and more than likely a result of having a good team of advisers around him as well as plenty of time to achieve the results. I mean, the most ordinary of people don't have the luxury to dedicate everyday in the gym after slogging away at work for 8 hours a day.

You're right, Bale and other actors who need to bulk up fast have an army of nutritionists and trainers who give them all the best advice, information and guidance. This is a major factor. Also, most male actors are genetically gifted in that they are attractive physically. This is one of the reasons they became famous actors in the first place! If you have good physical genes, then you're going to find it much easier to get your body to look good.

As for getting the flu every time you try to bulk up, this is most likely a result of overtraining. You're hitting your body too hard and it's having an impact on your immune system, allowing infections to take advantage. Take it easier and this won't happen.

Hard work. money, lots of time, the best personal trainer all the time and the best nutritionists plus more money to spend on the perfect diet. It still is amazing how he bulked up from this to bb but not impossible without roids. Plus in batman begins he doesnt look like a roid body, looks natural and he has abs so those saying he was fat are ridiculous. you need low body fat to have your abs showing. bale was allready used to working out, check him out in american phsyco he was a very lean 80kg there. To gain weight back to his normal size after mechanist wouldnt have taken him too long. plus the mechanist came out in 2004 but they would have stopped filming by then so he could have had 18 months to bulk up... very do-able. ive been training for almost a year and put on 6kg of muscle and though ive been training hard and eating fairly well im sure i could do better if i was really strict.

Six months with a personal trainer. That's all I know.

If you read about the dedication Bale puts in every single acting job he takes, I am sure he can accomplish those weight/muscle gains/losses no matter what, it's his job and he gets tons of professionals to help him acquire his goal.

I think Bale and Daniel Day Lewis are the most terryfyingly dedicated actors around.

I'm sure what Bale did was not healthy, but like I said, it's his job and his devotion is what makes him a gem to watch almost every single movie he takes on.

He probably started of at about 3000 calories split between protein and carbs, then shifted it up after about 2 months to 5000 calories of mainly protein and creatine. No actor will do steroids at risk of becoming all flabby and *beep* If you getting paid $10000000 a movie you will spend all your time in the gym for it. no?

well as far as i know, he is a vegetarian, vegetarians can lose weight easily (But not easy to gain them back). If you want to add muscles to your body, you need proper supply of vitamins and minerals and oxygen to your blood cell. Don't smoke, try to inhale fresh air, avoid polluted areas.

Have these Vitamins and Minerals everyday and try to run/walk/swim everyday if possible.

Vitamin C,E,B(B1,B2,B6)
Zinc, Manganese, Magnesium, Potassium, Iron.

Have at least one banana everyday, have more (as per requirements or suggested by nutritionist) if you're working out. For better result eat peanut butter, banana, milk. And above all drink sufficient amount of pure drinking water.

I shared what i know, so excuse me if i am wrong

You know, you made a good point there, it is indeed remarkable that he lost so much weight for 'the Machinist' 2004 and gained weight back for 'Batman Begins' 2005...

BUT........ in 2006 Christian Bale plays the lead role in Rescue Dawn, where he LOSES again a lot of weight.... it is baffling...
Maybe he was doing both movies at the same time... I don't know... but it is really really mindblowing... such dedication.

2004 skinny as hell
2005 muscled up full weight
2006 skinny again
