Why does everybody hate this movie?

I think this movie is pretty good. Of course there are many better movies out there but I've watched this film more than once and I still don't think it's boring or anything. I don't understand why some people don't like this movie because "Hilary Duff is in it". Because first of all, the roles she plays in films, don't describe her personality, so don't judge her on the roles she plays. It doesn't mean you have to like Hilary Duff but if you don't like her nor the movies she plays in, why post on this board? Why bother spending so much time on writing how much you hate her. If I hated someone (which I don't - I don't "hate" people) I would definitely not bother taking the time to write something about them.

Predictable and retarded plot. Her brother seemed to like her way too much.

the only thing I DESPISED about this movie was that there were a lot of people who were pretending to play the instruments.
It bothered me so much.
I mean, that woman (that one teacher in the beginning playing with the quartet of teachers) couldn't even position the violin right; her bow was held all wrong; the guy playing the cello had the WORST left hand position when playing first position; his wrists were LOCKED. that's so gross.
not to mention, many clarinet players were not even holding the clarinet right.
If you want to do the movie, at LEAST learn the BASICS.

The acting was nice, it was funny, but it bothered me to see teachers and students attending to a "prestigious" MUSIC camp playing like people who don't know how to handle their own instruments. argh.

Ok, honestly, trying my best not to be rude, the movie would've been really cool IF Hillary Duff wasn't in it. The movie could've stood on its own a lot better if another girl was playing Terri. I loved all of the other characters. I believed them, I believed what they presented, but I just couldn't buy Hillary's character.. because she was playing it.

I don't think she's talented at all, which is why I found it hard that her singing voice would even get her into a well-respected music program, and I wasn't blown away by her final performance either. The song was good, but... I just would've liked to see someone else play the role. I watched it last night again for the second time, thinking maybe my mind would change, but I still feel the same.

To me, it was bad. I stopped watching
after at least 45 minutes. (plus
