Would you recommend this movie?

I generally find this topic disturbing but I am also interested in trying to understand how people like Kevin Bacon's character think and why they do what they do.

I also quite like Bacon as an actor.

Hard to say really, it really depends on what it is you're really looking for. In its intentions I think the movie is fairly worthy and although there have been allegations that it attempts to make Kevin Bacons character sympathetic I don't think anything could be further from the truth. But for my own personal tastes its very slow paced which is something I don't tend to be a fan of. Some people appreciate that but its really just not for me. The acting and the direction as far as I'm personally concerned is first rate as are the production values and cinematography and there are a couple of really effective and tense moments. The scene that stood out for me I think is one the park bench where Bacon is talking to the little girl. I won't say any more than that because if you ended up liking the film more than me it would rob you of your enjoyment slightly.

My best advice is watch the movie for yourself and come to your own conclusions. It's the only way you'll know for sure what you think.

Really? I mean, *beep* REALLY? It's shocking how completely unfazed you are by all of the attacks and (rightful) accusations that have come your way, and it's evidenced by the fact that YOU ONLY SEEM TO COMMENT IN THREADS ABOUT UNDERAGE ACTRESSES, ACTRESSES THAT APPEARED NUDE BEFORE THEY WERE A LEGAL AGE, OR FILMS THAT PORTRAY CHILDREN BEING VIOLATED. Don't toss around your few postings in awful made-for-TV action film threads, either, because if anything, that was nothing but a vacation.

Count me in as another person who will happily follow you around, playing both the role of watchdog and (proudly) instigator. Kevin has done a magnificent job alerting everyone not "in the know" about what you've said and done, and I vow to do the same. I'm not stopping here, either. Your YouTube channel (hey everyone! it can be found HERE http://www.youtube.com/user/WandaNevadaa) will get the same attention. I also plan on doing my very best to find your Facebook account.

The fact that you sit back and laugh at your own condition is sickening, and I hope you pay for what you've done. Don't play innocent. Just because you haven't proved to break any laws yet doesn't mean that what you're doing is anywhere near normal or moral. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, with a clear head proudly boasts of having 20,000 pictures of an underage Dakota Fanning, and that's only the beginning, and sadly, one of the least creepy things you've been caught with.

Nice to meet you, Chester. You'll be seeing a lot more of me, too.

****SPOILER ALERT*******

Yes, because Kevin Bacon is a wonderful actor, & the film will get an emtional reaction out of the viewer.

I found myself feeling bad for Walter, because it was Kevin Bacon. If that had been someone who had really gone to jail for harming a child, I would be happy if they were locked up for the rest of their life.

I liked that Walter did not waltz out of prison all shiny & fixed. He was walking a thin line, & so close to going back to jail.

The part where he used his gf for a stand in for his sister was rather creepy, & the scene with Robin made me so angry that I wanted to reach through the screen & rip his head off !

Even though he beat the crap out of Candy, & did not have Robin sit on his lap.. I was angry that he did not turn Candy in, before he hurt that little boy & tell Robin to tell someone so she could get help. In all I guess it made the film better that he did not, because I doubt a real cm would have done any different.

Yeah, learned about this movie through moviechat actually. Never heard about it before, and I was surprised at how real and effective it was. It's a bit stylized/hollywood, esp with that climax. But it really concluded his character arc so well.

There's a number of contrivances in the story imo, I think it really works because the movie is a character-driven one over a plot-driven one. It's just a shame that I can't recommend this to most ppl I know because of the triggering subject matter.

Not in the least. I don't think they can make a movie about this subject. I saw this a long time ago, and it was just blah.
