Why is Gabriel a girl and not a dude? Because SHE is hotter that way. Tilda wears a suit better than a lot of men do. She's freaking hot and that's coming from another woman. As for Gabriel needing to have "a penis"...just grow up dude.

It seems that many people nowadays, especially in America, have an aversion against the traditional imagery of angels as male youths (although they were described like that in the bible, for example those at the tomb). That's why in movie they are usually either played by women or middle aged men.
