Calamity Jane kind of ruins the series
Her character is way overplayed and completely cartoonish throughout the whole series run.

Actually, it's "I apologize", but, yes, funny scene!
** ...well, of course we're going to throw poo at him... **
Watching for first time on Amazong Prime, was really hoping Clammy Jane exited the serie at the end of season 1 aftar Wild Bill murder.

Granted I sort of disliked her but the scene in S2 EP1 when the carriage rides by while she is passed out on the horse, wakes up, says, *beep* then passes back out is hilarious.
No f@cking sh`t lady does it sound like I'm ordering a pizza!
Would I sleep with her?
No.
Did I find her character hilarious, entertaining and probably true to life.
Yes.
I found Steve the drunk far more annoying and cartoonish.

I'm only on episode 3 but came here for this. I wish they would have had her tone down the slurring. It sounds/looks like she has a wad of chew and needs to spit. At all times.
shareI think for me, the way she speaks just seemed so fake and forced and it takes me out of the moment, like I can see the actress struggling and it all comes out marble mouthed. You can sound drunk, or scared or belligerent or shy or any combination of those things w/o that much affect and strain. Even allowing for her trying to seem more "masculine" or "strong" or not wanting to sound girly, one can lower the pitch of their voice w/o that much strain.
That said, I did end up liking her more by the end. At first she seemed quite cartoonish, and that lasted longer than I anticipated, but she did get fleshed out more. I did like her relationship with Joanie, who I also ended up liking quite a bit.
The only truly cartoonish character was Steve the Drunk. As a previous poster said, he was the most annoying character. He actually makes Calamity Jane's character seem reasonable by comparison.
"The heat has a taste. It tastes like a flame. You drink up the flame as it burns your flesh away."
I'm not saying that she isn't historically accurate or doesn't perform her acting well, but through the first 9 episodes (which is how far I've gotten thus far), I have no trouble in putting her near the top of my list of most annoying/despised characters in the history of great shows.
Joffrey from GoT is most despised, but that's a positive review of his work, while I cringed every time Calamity Jane would be on screen.
