Poor editing choice in a pivotal scene (SPOILER)
I understand that film editors want to cut the fat out of a movie wherever they can, but the drowning was edited to make it appear as though it was in real time—but then it was only seven seconds from when Charlie was last seen up above water to where the teacher had already passed Charlie’s mother on the way to try to help him. And it was less than a minute from when he first slipped to when he was being carried out. It was hard to even understand that he had died at that point, and it didn’t really convey the enormity of what she is being portrayed as having done, which is a pivotal plot point in the film.
