Strange dance scene?

I realize this movie was intended for kids, but I think Haru was a little ridiculously slow on the uptake regarding who the "stranger" was. I mean, it was so transparent (and drawn out) it went beyond silly humor to just stupid.
"GASP WHO IS THE NEW GUY THAT LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE THAT VERY DISTINCTIVE CHARACTER WHO INTRODUCED ME TO THIS ENTIRELY NEW WORLD"

A masked cat who is wearing completely different clothes than the Baron. How exactly do they look "exactly alike?"
