Nicola + Giulia Celebrity Look-Alikes

OK, first of all, Giulia is a carbon copy of Robin Wright Penn. And I just kept seeing Dustin Hoffman in Nicola...especially in profile in his younger years. Who's with me??

reply

Nicola with the beard could have been played by Jason Lee and nobody would notice the difference (except for a crappy italian accent)

reply

Anybody else see Jim Caviezel in Alessio Boni (Matteo)?

I can see some Hugh Jackman in him, too :P

reply

My thoughts exactly, a cross between Hugh Jackman and Jim Caviezel. The best of both, and better than either... sigh

And also, I almost forgot, doesn't Giorgia look like Isabella Rosellini, particularly in the second part where her hair is short?! And some of Giulia's expressions made me think of Mia Farrow.

The longhaired Matteo looks like Italian soccerplayer Andrea Pirlo (AC Milan)

reply

I thought Giorgia looked exactly like Ashley Judd and Nicola like a dark Ewan McGregor (something about the eyes and eyebrows) who's with me?

reply

Nicola: reminds me of mathieu amalric, dustin hoffman is not bad either.

Giulia: a mixture of julie christie and robin w. penn

Mirella: jennifer connelly

Matteo: jean claude van damme

Some posters have already noticed that Luigi Lo Cascio reminds them of Rob Morrow and i have to say it`s true. The other day i saw Rob Morrow`s movie "Last Dance" and thought there was a striking resemblance between them in the two movies!

I just want to add another to the look-alike list -- Matteo.

Now it may just be me, but he really looked similar to Jean Claude Van Damme to me. Especially in the later years before his death.

Haven't been to--yet alone posted on--this board in just over two years, and I'm astounded it's still alive and well.

I think that's a testament to not only the fine actors in THE BEST OF YOUTH but to the power of the film itself. It seems the characters are so compelling, and so able to get under our skins, that we simply HAVE to identify them with actors we already know and appreciate.

That said, I just saw Alessio Boni (Matteo) in his latest film, also a TV mini-series, but one that's going to be released in the US in a sadly truncated two-hour version, CARAVAGGIO. The film itself is just okay, even though the life of the painter is the stuff of high drama and even high adventure, but what struck me the most was that in this role, Boni, excellent as always, looks amazingly different.

Our disputes over whether he resembles Eastwood, Jackman, Van Damme, Caviezel or the friggin' goalie of the Italian soccer team are gonna be confounded by this new portrayal...'cause I swear that though I kept seeing bits of each of the above (well, maybe not the goalie), the American actor he MOST reminded me of in his portrayal of the turbulent, whore-loving, bisexual genius of light and shadow who changed the history of painting is a young Harvey Keitel! Go figure, huh?

You read it here. Now go forth and preach it!

reply

lol, i think matteo looks like hugh jackman too, especially in that movie that he starred with meg ryan, kate & leopold.

btw, jackman is an oz....

and was it giulia, the girl from the asylum? she looks like christina ricci....

reply

IMHO Alessio Boni does look like a cross between a young Clint Eastwood and Hugh Jackman. But yes, he looks completely different in "Caravaggio", producers originally thought he was too handsome for the part, so he made himself less attractive, he wore brown lenses to hide his blue eyes, had a bigger/larger nose, darker eyebrows and something else.
As a European I don't like it when people always try to say European actors remind them of some US actors, but it's unavoidable since US actors are known all over the world, and sadly their European and equally talented (and sometimes more talented) European counterparts are not.
Alessio Boni and Sebastian Koch of "The Lives of others" should be international stars, they are as talented and good-looking as US "heartthrobs".

I agree. Also, Giorgia is exactly like Summer Glau in Firefly.
