Shaun Evans

Was it just me, or was Shaun Evans' (who played Tom) American accent so bad it made Ewan McGregor look like a native-born? I was cringing every time he opened his mouth.

I was too busy noticing his cute face to notice his accent.

Ha Ha. Me too!

Well I thought it was really good. I assumed he was American until I saw the making-of documentary. But I am not American so I probably don't have a valid opinion.

Accent aside, regretfully, I think he was a little out of his league in this movie. Don't forget he was playing a young man who somehow had this magical hold on Julia Lambert, the greatest actress in all of England. She was willing to foresake many things (albeit temporarily) for his love and affection. I didn't see half the charisma and magnetism from him needed to make me believe he could have such a hold on Julia. If someone truly big enough for that role had played Tom, this movie may have received even more accolades. So, his accent was the least of his problems in my opinion.
