This AND 500 Days of Summer are the most accurate, and fun movies I've ever seen about intimate relationships.

Look no further than 1968 French film Je t'aime, je t'aime.

IMDb plot summary: Recovering from an attempted suicide, a man is selected to participate in a time travel experiment that has only been tested on mice. A malfunction in the experiment causes the man to experience moments from his past in a random order.

It also deals with broken relationships and features the same types of shots on the beach, etc. Very, very similar.
