SECRET WINDOW OR GODSEND?
Which movie do you think is better?
shareIt's a tie, unless you haven't seen Fight Club. In that case, see Secret Window. Anyone who tells you differently only has a hard-on for Depp or DeNiro. They are both huge let downs. Godsend is much scarier in a creepy sort of way though. You'll like Godsend if you aren't one of those fools without a life that gets really caught up in the ethics/morality/feasibility issues. The theatrical ending kills it though and brings it down to the level of Secret Window. As for Secret Window, if you've seen Fight Club you will figure this movie out about halfway through. Godsend might copy some things from Omen or whatever, but Secret Window rips off it's plot twist from Fight Club and is a big let down after you figure this out about 30-45 mins into the movie.

Actually, no. The novella Secret Window, Secret Garden was written by Stephen King before Fight Club. I don't remember the exact dates of publication, but if you go over to the Secret Window board, it's posted there.
Anyway, I liked Godsend a lot better. I'm a big fan of Rebecca's, so I really wanted to see it, but I didn't go in expecting it to be the best movie of the year or anything.. I just wanted it to be better than Femme Fatal *shudders*
Folks, theme of schizophrenia, amnesia and double personality was used in zillion novels and movies before King and Fight Club. Though it's a favorite mental Stephen King's disorder. :) Fight Club is from another department. How can you compare it with these 2 movies at all!?
Honestly, both movies suck. Poorly acted, mediocre directing and photography. Vey disappointing performances from De Niro and Depp (2 my favorite actors by the way).
If you're looking really good thrilling schizophrenic type of movies check out Alfred Hitchcock's classics like Psycho. Angel Heart with Rourke and De Niro come to my mind. From recent - Memento.
Am I only one who has a feeling that recent horror movies are made strictly for kids or dumbed down popcorn chewing crowd? :(

Secret Window rips off it's plot twist from Fight Club
Neither, unfortunately.
THE EXORCIST, in my opinion, is the best out of *any* horror movie ever made.

Secret window. I haven't been disappointed in a Johnny Depp movie yet (although I think a couple were a little slow but still good: 9th Gate and Sleepy Hollow). I was surprised to find out who Shooter was (maybe I am just dense). Godsend, on the other hand, right from the beginning I was suspicious of the Dr doing something with the DNA, so I was *not* shocked to find that out. I think they could have done more with it, and was almost hoping that it was the old Adam coming back and not the Drs kid. I was expecting way more and was sadly disappointed.
shareAlot of people said Secret Window was bad but I really enjoyed it I also enjoyed the novella. However there was no book for Godsend so I shouldn't of been able to have figured out the ending 30 minutes. Godsend was a true abomination to film with an ugly child as a huge plot point. Sorry I rule in favor of Secret Window.
Buffy- I'm not exactly shaking in my affordable yet stylish boots-
For those of you who would catagorize Secret Window as a "horror movie" I suggest you take another look at it. It's a thriller... and not a very good one at that.
Movies that would fill the Horror Genre are Friday the 13th, Halloween or Nightmare on Elm Street.
I would never class a move like Secret Window or movies like it (Sixth Sense) as a horror.
But I recongize this is a thread for Godsend so I will shut up now. I am on my way to the couch to watch Godsend... I really hope the majority of you are wrong - I hate it when a movie has a great concept but Flubs in the delivery.

Secret Window *may* be a better film, but if I had to choose which of the two to watch I would definetly go w/ Godsend.
It wasn't a great movie, but I could not stand to sit through the SW crap again. Atleast this film had a few jumps. SW just went on, and on, and on. Not to mention the twist in Godsend was a bit more to sink your teeth into. The twist in SW was unimaginative, like an exscape route if you can't find a more creative way of explaining whats going on.

if u wanna see a good movie, rent The Crow. it's my favorite, but only the first one, the sequels sucked. i didn't like godsend, secret window was ok but none of them were outstanding or anything. it's like asking "what
s better: barney or teletubbies?" everyone has their opinions, but in the end, would u really want to watch either of them?i doubt it unless you're under 6 years old
I LIKE SECRET WINDOW MUCH MUCH MUCH MORE THAN GODSENT. IT WAS A BETTER MOVIE WITH A BETTER ACTOR. I ALSO THINK JOHNNY DEPP IS SOOOO HOT!!!!!!!!!!
shareBoth are masterpieces and should win lots of Oscars this year.

Screw all you Johnny Depp pervs who tilt movie ratings only because you fantasize about him in the shower. If De Niro looked like Depp, you'd probably say that Godsend was a better film! I don't know about you, but I don't pay to watch a pretty actor prancing about on the screen. I pay to watch a good movie...
In regards to this thread, I prefered Secret Window, even though I agree with a previous posters views on the twist being a lame excuse for tying up a series of seemingly unfeasible events that went on in that movie. Godsend was promising, but was not what I expected at all in a worse way than Secret Window.
Definetly Godsend. Secret Window was a disappointment. The multiple personality thing has been overdone completely, so it wasn't even that original. The story's good, but as a movie? Could have been alot better.
