It was both hilarious and disgusting to see what a jealous baby Ron became when Harry unexpectedly was entered into the tournament. He looked like such a vagina when he was pouting, and then he even had the gall to tell Harry to "piss off" when he didn't believe him. I would've socked the *beep* out of that little pssy

So because of that, he understands why he was acting the way he was and why he feels the way he does. But besides this one time, Ron has never acted that way, he's always been good.

They're make up scene makes no sense whatsoever though. Ron says 'after fighting those dragons, I can't imagine you'd put your name in the goblet of fire on purpose' or something to that effect, apparently ignoring the fact that that's what every single other person who entered the tournament did....
shareI think that discussions of characterization get lost in movies like this that are based on children's/young adult books, but you're right, and I think that's intentionally part of the character. Multiple times in the book, Ron is said to be a bit of a dick, and frequently jealous. Part of that can be explained by the family situation, being constantly overshadowed by five older brothers who are either smarter or more accomplished or who just stand out in some other way, which doesn't excuse the dickish behavior, but it is alluded to and explained very well in the books why he is such a little b!tch.

Ron is overlooked by his friend all the time, he didn't mean to become friends with the chosen one, he meant to be friends with the small friendly looking kid who had space in his compartment in the carridge.
Pair that with the fact he is overshadowed at home. Everything he's done his brother have done before and Ginny is the only girl.
And that he is meant to be 13/14 Ron's behaviour is understandab;e.

shareLo, have you never been 14 years old OP? That's typical teenage behaviour. It was a phase, though Ron had reasons to act the way he did. He thought his best friend put his name forward without telling him, that would make me angry too.
Plus Ron is always frustrated by being second in command to Harry, his best friends being better at magic than him, always having to borrow clothes and stuff from family members while Harry can choose what he likes plus not telling Hermione he loves her.

Don't be so mean against Ron! Like all the others on here have said, he's just a teenager. He's 14 years old. Most teenagers are going through hormones and phases. He didn't mean to act the way he did, and if you remember, he felt really bad later on and apologized and made up with Harry. Besides he honestly thought that Harry betrayed him by not telling him anything. Also he's always been annoyed about being second to him, and always overlooked by his older brothers, so it makes sense. But this is the only time he acts like this, throughout the series he's always been a great character. And seriously? Using very misogynist language to describe him in such a way is disgusting in itself.
Also the way he was in Deathly Hallows doesn't count. The only reason why he acted that way was because of the locket horcrux made him that way.

And why would people make fun of Harry anyway? According to them, he put himself in danger. So it's his loss. Why make fun of someone endangering their life? And "Potter stinks"? Really? Is that even in the book? These are insults that 8 year olds would make.
