Glad I'm not the only one bothered by it. Even talked about it in my review of the movie, though judging by the dislikes it's gotten, I may have angered some fans.
It`s not about fans. It`s about people reacting to stupidity and inserting race into every possible conversation whether it`s relevant or not. And here it isn`t relevant, which all the non-morons understand immediately.

shareIn order for him to have been a white savior, he would have had to have saved someone. Which he did do, in saving Katsumotos life, though Katsumoto also saved his life as well. At the end of the film though, he really did not save... well anyone really. Katsumoto was the man who sent the message, nothing more. He did not save the Samurai either.
