White people immune to gatling guns?
I gotta get me some white genes, so I can be impermeable to bullets.
Or wait, maybe it was just cheap writing. My bad, hard to tell when the whole movie is like that.

He got hit and injured. Chances are a number of the samurai survived as well but committed harakiri like Katsumoto did.

Yes, white people ARE immune to Gatlin Guns. Didn't you learn that in high school physics class? It's pretty basic knowledge.
shareI ought to report your post, but instead will say that it's a movie.
Get over yourself.
It is a pretty sweet deal. We're mostly immune from police beatings too. You should definitely see if you qualify for membership.
shareSorry but this is simply a stupid comment.
shareEver consider the idea that it's not 'white people' who are impermeable to bullets, but rather 'lead characters in major motion pictures' who are so blessed.
You have seen it a hundred times before? Why is this film worth singling out?
So you can make a race issue out of it, right?

Your post would make more sense if the non-white lead character had also survived.
shareThe 'lead' character you are referring to was actually a 'supporting' character.

I don't see how it's possible to come to that conclusion... care to elaborate?
shareI made the assumption you were referring to Katsumoto as the 'non-white lead'.
I was expressing my belief that Katsumoto was not a lead character, but rather a supporting character.

Yes... What I meant is, how is it possible to come to the conclusion that Katsumoto is not a lead character?
shareScreen time, for one thing.
And also by virtue of the fact Katsumoto's role (from a story structure standpoint) is to challenge and guide the LEAD character - Algren - on his quest.
Algren is the sole protagonist in this story, there can be no two ways about that.

I will also point out that, as far as I could tell, Katsumoto intended to martyr himself in that battle. He died to make a point.
