whats happening with eddie Murphy???

What the hell is going on with Eddie Murphy. He hasn't had a good movie since the original Nutty Professor. Life, with Martin Lawrence was also pretty good, but a couple of bad sequals recently and then Showtime, and I Spy, and then the degrating Pluto Nash, and now to kid movies, the Haunted Mansion and Daddy Day Care. Shrek was also excellence, but he just lend his voice. Why can't he have good movies like Coming To America and stuff.I think hes losing his respect as a good actor. What do you guys think?

Wee sadly I think times have changed. I too miss Eddie in movies like Beverly Hills Cop, Trading Places and Bowfinger; sheer comedic masterclasses they were! I hear BHC 4 is shooting and I only hope that's as good as the original trilogy...though I have my fears what with where Hollywood is at the moment. I just feel like nowadays comedies have to be dumbed down otherwise people just don't get them and say the movie is boring (I mean, just reading some discussions and reviews on certain movies with plots would confirm this). Nowadays Hollywood brings us CGI and cheap slasher flicks and only rarely does a movie come about with a proper plot and actors. Just check 'Prom Night' and see how many people gave it 10/10 and raved about it and you'll see my point. If you look at the 80s & 90s, movie after movie was an absolute hit. It's why I was so incredibly happy with Inception; sure it had CGI but the plot was fantastic and Leo DiCaprio has grown into one of the finest actors not only of this generation but I would rank him as amongst my favorite actors ever; right up there with De Niro and Pacino. There are only two actors today that I will rush to the cinema the second a movie of theirs opens; Leo DiCaprio and Johnny Depp. Brilliant actors!

So yeah, the type of movies that make money are different nowadays and Murphy has has had to adapt I guess to still make money, mind you, I think his performance in Daddy Daycare is much better than I-Spy, Showtime, Haunted Mansion and Pluto Nash. As a whole, I'm disappointed with the crap Hollywood spews out nowadays and I'm happy that occasionally a proper thriller comes out or a movie with a good plot and good actors; it's just sad that most of my fav actors (Douglas, Ford, Pacino, de Niro, Crowe etc) are getting old and not making movies anymore. But hey, that's my opinion, maybe I'm just being old-fashioned...and that'd be weird because I'm only 19!

The only constant about Eddie Murphys career is that it goes up and down like a rollercoaster. It's either all the way at the top and then some or it hits bottom and keeps on digging.. He always recovers though.

He wasn't in the original nutty professor. He was only two years old when that movie came out. The remake that he was in was BY FAR the worst movie he has ever been in.

Even though the OP was 12+ years ago the song remains the same: same old, same old.
