I've never actually seen the movie, did read the book (which was awful) but like the movie was touted to be a Greatest Thing Ever (lies). Only reason I kept reading after about a third of it was the hope that everyone died..... was only mildly disapointed. My reason, most of the characters where simply awful people, the few who were say regular decent if flawed people were writtin out pretty quickly (the dancer guy, the photographer kid). Understood it was based on the writers real life but damn I should want better things for the people, fell bad that their in this situation, want them to better themselves not want them all the be shot and let the other poor folks living in the favelas move in and give it a go in that area. Also the last third of the book was reading about Tiny being a d-bag rapeing chicks and being a dope dealer.

It's plot didn't involve two teenage girl best friends who both fall for the high school quarter back.

The central character was not a nerd/reject/outcast who pulls some sort of stunt that makes him badass, the center of a high school or college, and/or win the affection of the most attractive female student.

No comic-relief sidekick.

No advertising of American products. What do they have against Axe Gel!!!!??

No celebrity cameos.

It wasn't a remake.

It wasn't a sequel.

Tarkovsky didn't direct it

Because it doesn't look like Lil Ze gonna be in any sequels..
