I saw it yesterday at a screening. There are a few good moments between Downey and Gibson. But that is it. The movie is boring and stupid as hell, some people walked out, I kept hoping it would get better but it did not. pure garbage.

shareThe Singing Detective is underrated. I've seen it several times and find it immensely rewarding. Maybe a person has to be mature to appreciate it. One certainly has to love movies. Oddly enuff, I find The Singing Detective somewhat similar to K-Pax. The main characters are dissociative.
Downey is damned good in this as is Mel Gibson. I enjoy the musical segues, too.
If you like The Singing Detective, you might fit in with the group at my little internet Speakeasy. Drop in: it's dark and cozy.

shareI was there at that same screening. I was more than star struck actually seeing Robert Downey Jr in person. He's one of my favorite actors but the movie was really REALLY bad. Anybody that's dying to see this film, you're really not missing much.
