SPOILERS - The Tank Cleaners

I feel I got the ending, which moved me.

Only thing, it seemed maybe this was a sanitized version of the original. Here's why:

Early in the film, the Principal says probably some pervert got Mitsuko (ghost girl). Later, Yoshimi (mom) has the vision of the girl getting into the elevator with the two tank cleaners. But THEN, she has the other vision of Mitsuko climbing the ladder alone, dropping the bag into the water and falling in while reaching for it. The lighting or color grading in that scene was different from the rest of the movie, too.

I connected the two tank-cleaning guys to Mitusko's death. She went into the elevator with them. They returned, she didn't. Remember, Yoshimi saw the date of last cleaning? It was the day Mitsuko disappeared.

So why would they foreshadow and even show the tank cleaners plus the clue of the cleaning log, to not have it be significant?

I smell a "made for US" substitution there.
