Why does Rawls hate McNulty so much?

I'm on Season 2 now, and it seems like no matter how good of a detective McNulty proves himself to be, Rawls still refuses to change his mind about him.

It was so funny for him to get the can full of girls dumped on Rawls because McNulty made sure the floater girl went to Baltimore CID.

Then McNulty came and had crabs for lunch with Bunk in Homicide and said he didn't want Rawls to see him.

Bunk says "You're not the run of the mill kind of *beep* You're a special tkind of *beep*

Wasn't there also some later scene where McNulty quickly walks by Rawls and gives him a salute, and then Rawls turns around as McNulty leaves when he realizes who it was?

Yeah I remember that scene. Rawls was mad that he stopped by Homicide when he was in the marine unit.

In Season 1 McNulty kept running his big mouth about things Rawls wanted to keep on the down low. Also in Season 2 after sending McNulty to the Marine Unit for running his big mouth, McNulty decided to get back at Rawls by finding a way to place some murders in Rawls' jurisdiction, which Rawls was trying to avoid because he was afraid that if his department couldn't solve them his clearance rate would decrease from 51% to around 30%
