BB was good... when I first watched it. Actually it got me started on watching TV shows. I've since finished The Sopranos, MadMen and of course The Wire. I've also -as-of-this-writing- seen every episode of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and Orange Is the New Black . Right now, I'm reaching the end of Gilmore Girls in eager anticipation of the release of A Year in The Life. All of them great shows, that I like for varying reasons. However I think Breaking Bad is probably the weakest of the bunch. Even though BB is a massive adrenaline ride, only a handful of characters are developed and many of the major supporting characters come across as underutilized, particularly Marie and Walt Jnr.
That being said, its been a year and a half since I finished Breaking Bad and just under nine months since I finished The Wire. In terms of what both shows are, they are entirely different beasts- Breaking Bad is a modern day western black comedy about a chemistry-teacher-turned-drug-lord. The Wire is a realistic portrayal of a city, that exposes the systemic problems that are underpinning American politics. Between the two shows, The Wire is the one that rewards the most re-watching and I'll probably rewatch it and write down every detail there is on screen.
I wouldn't mind a re-watch of Breaking Bad though, because watching Hal from Malcolm in the Middle kill an army of Nazi's is its own reward.
