Does it get better?
I watched 2 or 3 episodes and it was slow asf should I keep watching?
shareThe Wire builds slowly but tells an amazing story from multiple points of view. Many people consider it one of the best TV shows of all time but I understand that it might not be for everyone. I would recommend to keep watching but if you don't like it then maybe it's not your type of show.
shareAlright thanks
shareIts a slow show. And since you gave 24 a 10/10 this may not be the show for you. If you value fast pace shows like 24 then getting into the Wire may be tough because The Wire is like the opposite of 24. But most people like different things so I wouldn't give up. But if you don't like to watch stuff without alot of action then you're probably wasting your time.
shareOkay then I will watch a couple of episodes thanks
shareyeah this is more along the lines of Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I see you gave that a perfect score as well. Of course its no where near as creepy but like that entire series a season of The Wire will revolve around one case or investigation. It moves at a snails pace but its well worth it in the end.
shareWait until season 3 and 4. Both amazing
shareMost definitely! The first 4 or so episodes are slow, I agree. But the level at which the show runs after these episodes is pehonomenal.
shareDoes it get better? This is easily one of the greatest shows ever
shareAgreed, it does seem a little slow now though sadly. It seems most new shows are really fast passed from the start to hook people straight in, The Wire builds slowly to tell the best tale told on TV!
shareWhen does it actually get good, though?
I've watched most of the first season. I honestly can't think of a single memorable scene, interesting character, or compelling storyline from what I sat through. Long stretches were almost unbearably weak.
Really has to be the most overrated show since Lost.
I got hooked about half way through the first season.
shareThe Wire tells its story without much emotion, it seems detached in a way. The plot also moves slowly forward. It gives it a realistic edge but can also make it boring, at times.
shareOne word: Omar.
Anyway, the show has lulls, but all shows do. The reason why it is slow is because it is quite realistic. Life is not entirely fast paced.
The show was beyond amazing. Each season is dedicated to a particular aspect of society, and especially in Baltimore. It is a cool cat and mouse chase game of the cops trying to crack the wire.
Honestly I never ever would have known Idris Alba was British. LOL. And Dominic West did an absolutely fantastic job with this Bawler accent. LOL.
I would be surprised if you don't actually eventually get hooked.
((Damn the remakes, Save the originals.))
