End Scene, End Episode

Does that last scene where they all go into the room and Abe finds Joan in bed with JFK and they all freeze the death depress the crap out of anyone? It's not even the fact that it wasn't followed up by another episode but thats cene just kills me....

reply

Yeah. I may have mentioned this before, but I was watching all the episodes (from kazaa) on my computer as I was going to bed one night, enjoying a marathon. (I have since bought the DVD)

I was absolutely crushed when that last scene came on. That's why over the next two days, I wrote my own 14th episode, which I'm currently finishing storyboarding, which will be followed by recording voices.

I feel your pain.

reply

I live in the U.S. and never got to see the last 5 episodes because they only aired in Canada. I bought the DVD from www.amazon.ca in October.

I watched all the episodes I had seen over 2 years ago on disc one with the "play all" function. Knowing the end was coming soon, I got really sad when I popped in the second disc, having not seen the last episode. Then I saw it and just sighed a lot. It was just... *sigh* Joan loves Abe who loves Cleo who "loves" JFK. No one really gets anywhere and the people in true love don't end up together, and there won't be another episode. I just got depressed and said I wouldn't watch that ep anymore.

reply

I even love the song that plays at that part but i can't even listen to it, it depresses the sh*t outta me...really. I don't know why. I hate the ending of that episode so much.

reply

The song that plays there ("Start Over") always makes me sad when I hear it now. Which is a shame. You should never feel sad with Abandoned Pools. Yeee!

reply

Let me know if you still believe that after you've heard AP's second album "Armed to the Teeth".

who that song by

reply

I just said it in the next sentence.

"I like my women same way like I like my coffee ... Puerto Rican."

reply

The DVD was released on September 20th, 2005, and as for extras, well, they are somewhat lacking, but the DVD is definitly worth getting! Go to amazon.ca and search for Clone high.

reply

can i pick it up in a store? or is it only in canada? and ANY extras?

reply

I ordered mine from amazon.ca and it was delivered to me in the USA with like no additional charge. If you live in Canada then you can pick it up, if you're lucky, at the big retail chains up there. If you live in the USA, then you're only ability, right now, is to use amazon.ca

are there ANY extras?

They replied to you about the extras in their first post. There are some extras, but they're pretty lacking. Go to amazon.ca and read what they are.

reply

oh...those are....unfullfilling.

I thought it was so awful when I first saw that. Like, JOAN, what are you DOING?! But if you think about it, it's realy bizarre, and sort of funny. And it's a fitting ending for a show when you don't know if there will be a second season or not: leaving them hanging and wanting more with something totally bizarre.

reply

I miss this show so much. I wish they'd bring it back. I watch the DVDs so much. This morning before work I watched Snowflake Day. Damn it's funny. All the episodes were funny.

reply

I actually think the last episode was perfect and that it realistically reflected so much of what is so true about high school that makes it such a wonderful time of our lives. People realise too late who it is they love (the older you get the more true it'll become), they make mistakes like sleeping with the wrong people, and everything isn't always a happy ending, I certainly know that my high school experience saw all of those things. Part of what I love about this show is how much it takes me back to the things me and my group of friends used to do and say. Perhaps my favourite line I heard on the show was really not one that was funny at all but that was a profoundly high school matter-of-fact type statement. I don't remember exactly the wording but more or less it went like this:
Abe comments on how lucky the roses are when he finds Cleo sitting with the flowers and Cleo replies: actually Abe flowers are just the reproductive organs of these plants, they don't have feelings.
Sigh. I watched the rock opera episode this morning before work, I wish I could go back home and spend the whole day watching that show. Sigh.

reply

Wait a minute. When the hell did that episode air? The last one I saw was the musical (one of my favorites). What exactly happen in it? Not only that but is there a DVd of the show? I've never found one. Can some one help me here?

reply

If you live in the US or Canada, you can get it from here easily. (Amazon.ca)

Totally worth getting. You're missing out on at least 2 episodes.

reply

Try 5.

ong the end song is sooooo sad! i really wish they made a happy ending for at least one character!

reply

Nobody could have put "Spoiler" in the title?

Thanks.

reply

Well you don't have to be smart to know the page titled "End scene, end episode" will discuss the last scene in the last episode of the series.

reply

heh, good call!

i had not viewed the last ep's of the series either for the longest time (though I knew they were in existence).

anything i'd have to say about the last ep would be a near-exact mirror of what someone else said. so i won't.

great series. family guy-like return? doubtful.

i try reading threads entirely; however most sidetrack in the middle & become a big dick contest

reply

MTV in the USA did not air the last five episodes of the season, but Teletoon (Canada's equivilent of the Cartoon Network) did.

reply

I never saw this show while it was on T.V. My friend had the series on his PC (I got them all from him, but now have the DVD). I watched them all, and saddly enough, I was moving across the country in about a month. I found that the last episode really related to me in its ambiguity, because you could never tell what happened. The song inspired me to purchase both of Abandoned Pools CD's, and I listen to them almost daily now.

The last scene still depresses me.

reply

It was really really depressing to me. I was really hoping for Abe and Joan to hook up and crap. I know this sounds sappy and such but come on.

man, i just watched the last 3 episodes of this show, and DAMN!!! THIS WAS SUCH A GOOD SHOW!!!! I have one friend who hates TV and never watches any of it, except for clone high, which we both loved and quote all the time. and after watching it again for the first time in quite a while, i like it even more, even the ending was just great, god what a great show, such a shame it only went 13 episodes

reply

its just soo surreal everyone just frozen there nothing is finale, i really wanted joan and abe to get together really bad the whole thing kinda still pisses me off

reply

I know for me it was such a shame to see such a great show go. *SIGH* The end scene killed me too >.> I wanted to scream at the TV, knowing that they will never make another season, so sad :(

reply

Whoa. I thought it was just me. It was so strange because I hardly watched the show.

reply

Say whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?

reply

I'm going against the majority here, but I think it ended very nicely.

I just could never see Abe and Joan getting together and making it work without boring the hell out of the audience. They were too much like a brother and sister to be believable as a couple. (I was actually secretly hoping that Joan and JFK would end up together.)

Hell, Abe and Gandhi had more chemistry during their brief makeout scene than Abe and Joan had in the entire season. (And I realize that I'm talking about cartoons here, but whatever.)

Yeah, it sucks that it only lasted for 13 episodes, but at least it ended when it was still funny, like Arrested Development.

reply

I secretly wanted Joan and JFK to end up together, too. He was so sweet to her in the scene where she's upset about Abe. If Abe was too dumb to notice what he had in front of him all along, it's only fair that Joan find someone else.

But the whole freezing thing...that kills me every time. I neeeed a second season!!!

reply

I think if they hadn't played up Abe being a complete dumb ass about noticing Joan, it wouldn't have been so bad. However, maybe it's just me, but I was kinda hopin JFK would die in a fire.

Anyway good series that ended for no reason I can see.

reply

For me, the saddest part of the end of the series was Gandhi and all the minor characters. All the relationship nonsense didn't bother me too much, but Gandhi didn't do anything to anybody. He had a lot to live for, he was just starting to get something authentic out of life and then he freezes.
I dunno, it bothered me.
