so April was a lesbian?

she fell in love with Clive(Rob Schneider) even knowing that he was Jessica??

reply

I think it was probably more of a admiration thing really. I think she just idolized Jessica, and probably just thought it was a sign when Jess turned into a man. My guess at least!

reply

she never would of felt that way if jessica stayed a woman its just the fact she basically tricked herself think she was a he

I thought she was in love with Jessica and didn't realize it. I had this interpretation where she was at the very least bisexual, but she was so in the closet that not even she was aware of it yet.

reply

Er no. If she was in love with Jessica she wouldn't have called her "Spence" after flirting with "her".

She fell in love with Jessica as a man, or as "Spence".

reply

Man, most of you got it ALL wrong!...(although some of you are close), April spells it out for Clive in her SPEECH for crikes sake!

Jessica is April's BEST friend, her best friend became a MAN...so slowly she started falling in love...who WOULDN'T want their best friend to be their man & lover?...hence April's sadness when she knows Jessica has to turn back...she knows she might never find a man in her lifetime that would live up to those standards.

(you'd think I was describing a dramatic film or something!)

I don't think that many people want their best friend to be their lover. I mean you do want your partner to care about you as strongly as a best friend, but you need a close friend that's outside of the relationship too. You need seperate things from those relationships.

Anyway, the fact that April didn't fall for Jessica until AFTER she turned into a dude would lead me to believe that she's neither gay nor bisexual. She had ten years to fall for her as a woman and didn't.

I'm sort of at a cross roads...I'd always interpreted it as April falling in love with Jessica because:

1) she was her best friend
2)she was in male form, making it more socially acceptable (like someone else said) to liking her.

People fall in love with their best friends of the opposite sex all the time. That's why relationships and marriages happen. In the movie I believe the first instance where you can see April start to develop feelings for Spence is after the dance off scene when she says "you're a really good dancer" in an admirable way, while at the same time looking at 'Spence' in a very smitten manner. And when she found out her boyfriend cheated on her, Spence was there for her, and I think it kind of helped April's developing feelings along. To me it was evident that she fell in love with a male version of Rachael's good qualities/characteristics April personally enjoyed (i.e. support during a breakup, caring, good dancer, confident, funny, trustworthy, being her confidant..)

I guess her being a lesbian could be possible and it would work, but I never got that vibe whenever I watched the movie.

I've never fooled anyone. I've let people fool themselves.

Personally I thought that she was always in love with Jessica. The only thing that changed about Jessica was her equipment. I think it was because Jessica finally appeared in a socially acceptible body that April was finally able to admit the love that she always had. I tend to think that her love for Jessica's was purer and more meaningful than Billy's was.

mysteriousm17 you hit it on da noze, well put

reply

No, because Jessica was in a male body lol.

reply

I was thinking about that too. I think April fell in love with the guy Jessica not Jessica herself.

reply

She's heterosexual. She just had a very deep love for Jessica, and then when she turned into a boy, it got confusing for her.

Hail to the king, baby.

reply

I think she didn't really consider Spence as Jessica, and she liked the attention and the 'girl friend'-stuff they did which she wouldn't have done with a regular (high school) guy. I think she sort of distinguished Spence and Jessica in her mind.
