JC II ending annoys me. [SPOILERS]

In Jeepers Creepers two, the creeper is "sleeping" and according to the old man, killed by him with a pierce trough the heart with a home made harpoon.
Now, we all know he whitnessed the strength the creeper has, by tearing up thick steel roofs off cars without a sweat. Or flipping over a heavy truck.
Why would he take a risk in tieing it down to a barn with thin rope around it's arms? If it was up to me, i would spend all my money on Thick steel profiles and weld myself a cage that not even a tank could crush.. sort of speaking.
I mean, wouldn't u? I know the man is old, and has grief for his son being killed 23 years earlier, but why risk so many lives once more? Should've done it my way so you can poke it with a stick without worrieng at all. If i was in his shoes, i would torture it for one last time (assuming i wouldn't live another 23 years) and feel atleast a kind of relief that it violently tore my child appart.
