Who Thinks Eminem is a Good Actor?

I sure do.

Well, he did an okay job in "8 Mile", but I'm not quite sure if I could call him a outstanding actor of just seeing him acting in one movie.

True that. My point was he picked a good first choice- something that wasn't too much of a stretch- and did a good job with what he had.

Acting like himself is not acting.
Em is not an actor, and this movie was shot in the heat of the moment.
Like.. when they were planning to shoot a movie based on the lyrics of 'Sk8r boi', remember? Cause Avril was so hot back then.
And it's not a good movie. It's nice to see Kim again and all.. but, it's boring to someone who isn't a hard-core fan.
The song itself is amazing though.

Best acting rappers:

1. Will Smith - now a terrible rapper, but rarely pus a foot wrong on the movie front (except for doing Wild Wild West and TURNING DOWN the Matrix)

2. Ludacris - hasn't done much in comparison, but if you caught his spots on SVU and in Crash, you know that this brotha will be serious if he ever decides to go with the acting gig full time. Mesmerising

3. Tupac - IMHO, one of the most overrated rappers ever, but there was no doubting the passion he brought to his film roles, particularly Juice and Gridlocked

4. Ice T - has definitely improved since New Jack City

5. Latifah - Just for Set It Off

6. L.L. - Now very assured

7. Ice Cube - should have been higher but has chosen some s**t films

Worth looking out for Xzibit, RZA and Method Man.

As for EM, he did all right in 8 Mile, but as other posters have pointed out, this role wasn't much of a stretch

He is good, in this movie anyway, not sure if he's done anything else, but I couldn't imagine him starring in much else. One point to note is that he won an Oscar for best original song the year this came out.

That isn't for his acting of course but this whole movie idea for him was a stroke of brilliance. Curtis Hanson and Brian Grazer should have been recognized for some award at the Oscar's that year because it had a bit of a ripple effect when 50 Cent was in a movie about himself and a few others have probably done it too.

After seeing 8 Mile a ton of times, I've wondered if they will ever find some way of putting together a sequel? It sounds kind of unlikely because everybody knows what Eminem has done since, but with the way Hollywood minds think these days, I wouldn't doubt it...although it might be a bit late seeing as how 8 mile is a 2002 release.

He did a decent job in 8 Mile. I think he has the potential to be really good, maybe great.

This thread is hilarious.

Eminem plays the most forced one-dimensional character ever, the screenplay makes his character even more unbelievable. He doesn't say much either, I just stares madly 'bout half the movie. The only thing he does good is the rapping itself, but that means it was a 1u50m long rap video. I really don't get why people take this movie so serious, or the acting. I mean it wasn't horrible, but it's just a mediocre movie with a really thin story and mediocre acting. I see it more as a comedy to enjoy it.

The best rapper-turned-actor is most definitely Mark Wahlberg.
