The more they explain everything that's on the tape they mystery goes away and makes it less scary.

To me solving the mystery was the best part.

Agreed, I found it better as it went on. One of the rare cases where the remake surpasses the original.

This is one of the best horrors ever made, better than the original. But still you will find stupid people complain for not scared enough

When you watch a movie 30 years after its release when even the stones have watched it and dozens of movies have copied from it, it's normal not to be so excited watching it. Back in the day was a very scary watch

I meant on the first viewing. I saw this in the theatre. It was great when you first see the tape and how weird it is, but as the mystery of it slowly gets revealed, the film gets scary because the mystery of it is gone.

Not for everyone. I never found this to be scary, not even on the first watch. It is a good movie though and I love the creepy atmospheric tone it has.
