The series finale was so depressing

The episode started out with the usual humor but once Frylock announced he was dying, things started getting depressing and then Master Shake is killed by a bunch of clams and Meatwad leaves the jewel at the bottom of the ocean and Frylock then dies. Meatwad meets a woman and has kids and then they revisited his old deserted house where he, Master Shake, and Frylocked lived and I almost cried, it was that depressing. The only other time that made me sad was watching the Jurassic Bark, The Luck of The Fryrish, The Late Philip J. Fry, Game of Tones, and Meanwhile... episodes of Futurama.

Not gonna lie, my eyes got a little watery. I liked the bit with Meatwad's family and Shake's last words to him were nice to hear. They could have copped out at the end and made it a VR dream sequence, but It was cool that they didn't.

You missed it when Meatwad and the mortgage broker were getting married her ring was the jewel... or another one of those jewels.. LoL..

Glad someone noticed the ring was another jewel

Yeah, it's so weird. The show has always been straight-up surreal comedy, so for it to get a little serious for once was kind of mind-blowing.

But it ends on a kind of happy note, with Meatwad somehow growing up normal with all the bad role models in his life. No mention of what happened to Carl, but I like to think that he died in a way he would've wanted... choking on a Papa John's pizza with hot-dog stuffed crust.

I know, I was shocked by how depressing it was. I just saw it and now feel very... glum. It's very sad how it's over.

I agree that this episode was unusually sad, considering this is just a bunch of silly cartoons. But there really was a sad feel to it.

Regarding the jewel that was on the wedding ring when Meatwad got married, I assumed this was Frylock's jewel, now devoid of energy. If this is so, it shows that Meatwad kept it, rather than sell it to Carl and his cousin.

The other explanation is that Meatwad flew back into space to retrieve the jewel he left there, which seems less likely. Or that he got back the jewel that he traded away in the game of marbles. Again, that seems less likely. I think it was Frylock's jewel.

I loved how WILLIE NELSON (the onion headed monster from the attic) was the last character to be seen.

I do wish that they used the voice of Tom Scharpling and made him say something though.

There's one more episode, you know..

Yup. As somebody said on another thread, it was the final season, throw in all the classic characters, but nooooo.
