I listen to Rammstein and I adore the guys. I was surprised very much when, watching the movie yesterday, I found them out in the beginning. I know the video "Feuer Frei" very well, but I did not expect that the movie includes their performance. Actually, that is my favourite part of the movie:)

The sniper's got talent!

if u watch the directors cut on the DVD u can see them preparing the crowd for the live gig.

It would be cool, I'll try to get it soon!

I'm a big fan of rammstein. I like their music but their lyrics suck. I speak german and their lyrics are just plain bad. But I still like them.

reply

yeah that's true ice boy. one of their best lines ever:
eins. hier kommt die sonne. zwei. hier kommt die sonne. etc... :-)

reply

Hehe :D

Come on. You can't be serious about the Sonne lyrics being even the slightest bit good?

the lyrics suck??? The lyrics are brilliant! Some of the are very easy, I agree. But listen to the lyrics from Halleluja for example. GREAT!!

Till Lindemann is one the best lyricwriters ever!

@ DudeOnIce

You maybe know some German but your command of German is not sufficient enough to get the deeper meaning, double meanings and play of words in their lyrics. This you'll only get if you are a native speaker of German or speak it like a native!

reply

thats just ridiculous and racist lol

reply

I personally think Rammstein is some kind of FM-ized Laibach... too politically correct and uncreative, IMHO... BTW Laibach plays this Sunday in Switzerland :)

reply

I am the biggest Rammstein-fan there is. Anyone want to challenge me?

'Is that what I think it is?'
'No, it's a treasure map!'

reply

Ill challenge u all lol. Start of easy shall we. What is the english translation of the title "Du hast"?

Btw, whoever said that Rammstein lyrics are awful are clearly not very intelligent. The songs all (well almost all) takes some thinking and understanding before the meaning come clear. Especially the newer songs are amazing in this sense. Check out Dalai Lama for a good example (based on a poem by Goethe) or the new song Spring about a suicidal man. But pretty much any song will do, amazing stuff.

reply

Im a HUGE rammstein fan and i got shivers when i watched XXX and saw them.

BTW, the lyrics song Du Hast(one of my favorite songs by them) are German marrige vows, to which to guy says no(nein!) the title translates into "you have"

i think all of their lyrics are amazing but my favorite song would have to be Links 234 because its timed exactly to the pace of a standard military march. if you start with your left footwhen they start marching on the song(the very start), it ends up that whenever Links(english: left) is said, your left foot is hitting the floor.

Rammstein rocks and im their biggest fan

reply

Yea "You have" is the right translation. It is like you said bout marriage vows. There is a pun though, "Du hasst" (sounds the same when you pronounce it as "Du hast") means "You hate" which connects well with the fact that he answers "nein" in the end of the song.

Go on, you should ask another question if you answer one! Thats how it works ;)
But ok, of what wellknown childrens story is the video to "Sonne" inspired by?

I'm a hardcore, dedicated Rammstein fan, but I honestly think the "challenge other fans to be the biggest fan" competition is just childish and pointless. People, it's no competition as to how much you love a certain band; you love Rammstein probably for the same reasons I do... mammoth explosions, kick-arse Industrial riffs, their dark, militaristic style and the fact that Till Lindermaan can wield a pair of flamethrowers like nobody's business. The fact that you want to love something MORE then other people, just to prove you love 'em most, is something I stopped doing when I was in sixth grade. ;-_-; Can't we all admit that we love Rammstein, and leave it at that?

Now... about the lyrics; Ye gawds, what th'hell are y'thinkin', IceMan?! o_0; Heck, I don't speak a word of German (I'm learning Dutch though, and the two are pretty similar; but nevermind that), but hell... I've read the translations for the lyrics, and I can tell you that their songs go right to the soul. Part of what makes Rammstein such a huge hit is that their songs always hold a deeper meaning; for example, "Amerika" might've sounded funny and have been Rammstein's way of parodying America's sense of self-pride, but it has an even more abstract meaning then that: it's highlighting the widespread adoption of American culture, everywhere, that makes us "all living in America".

"Mein Teil" was another good example of how Rammstein's lyrics aren't ever what they seem. While it might appear to have just been sung for the sheer creepiness of hacking off a man's wang and eating it with him before he died of blood loss, Rammstein were actually asking themselves why a man would wish to let himself be slaughtered. They were putting themselves in the victim's place and imagining how such things as immortality, enlightenment, or whatever it was that Bernd Jürgen Brandes (the sick bastard) believed he'd get, could be found through cannibalism. I understand you speak German IceMan, but it means nothing if you're not able to read between the lines and think of the lyrics in a more abstract manner. Yeah, I don't speak German, but I don't think I need to if I've read the translations, and understand what they're saying in a deeper context.

Regardless, I don't love Rammstein only for their meaningful lyrics. There's very little about the band that I can't love, from Till's deep, guttural voice (sounds perfect in German, but he's a little awkward when singing English; which is fine, because English sucks xP), to their perfect blend of metal guitar riffs and Industrial elements, to the colossal, 40'-long pillars of flame that their live concerts are so well known for, and satiate my own love-of-fire itself. xP And I don't mind that I can barely understand a word of what Till's singing; German sounds a lot cooler and creepier then English, and even Paul Landers himself once said; "German is a really evil-sounding language, and fits our style more then English does."

Rammstein pwn! \m/

Alhadis:
The challenge is not to be taken seriously man. Im not seriously suggesting that I know more about Rammstein than every1 else, and i dont think any1 in here do either. Lighten up, its just a fun thing. Share a bit of Rammstein trivia!
But other than that I agree with everything u say, Rammstein is so much more than people "from the outside" seem to think.

akasha4ever:
That is tricky! I take it you mean the female choir sound. I think i must leave that for someone else to try to answer.

reply

*smiles* Sorry, mate. It's just that I've seen way too many threads (here at the IMDB and elsewhere) to forget that not every thread should be taken seriously. But yes, I'm glad that I was wrong and that nobody was actually "competing" with each other (my mistake for leaping to the wrong conclusion). Now, as for trivia, I'm sure everybody would know that Till Lindermaan was a basket weaver by profession... heck, that's kind of amusing. xD Another thing I love about Rammstein is that all the members had humble, everyday jobs before they became one of Europe's most popular metal bands. ^^;

I love 'em to death. (*lyric from a Judas Priest song, who, mind you, also kick major ass. If you don't love Judas Priest, y'simply don't love metal. \m/*)

reply

I listen to rammstein and they are awesome. they sing all of there songs in german and thats cool. but i found it strange that they were in xXx then i found out that the opening scene is from one of there concerts cause the director is a Rammstein fan (so i heard).

English Feuer Frei lyrics.

Whoever knows pain becomes criticized
From the fire that burned up the skin
I throw a light in my face
A hot cry
Open Fire!
Bang bang

Whoever knows pain is raised
From the fire that burns in desire
A hard thrust (that gives off sparks) into her womb
A hot cry
Open Fire!

Bang bang
Open Fire!

Whoever knows pain is dangerous
From the fire that burns the soul
Bang bang
The burned child is dangerous
With fire that separates from the life
A hot cry
Bang bang
Open Fire!

Your happiness
It is not my happiness
It is my misery

Bang bang
Open Fire!

My goal in life is to never die.... hmmmm looks like I'm doing good so far.

Guten Tag,

Dance Metal, whats that? Please explain.
Ever heard of Revolting Cocks, Ministry, Red Harvest or Skinny Puppy?
Now that's industrial.
Of course you won't catch any of those bands on MTV.
No offence guys, you'll grow up too.

Kein Mitleid für die Mehrheit...

reply

Rammstein is industrial, too.
So, what's your problem?

Keine Macht für Niemand ...

reply

yes, most definatly I listen to R+...
In fact when I saw XXX, is the first time I saw and heard Rammstein, through Feuer Frei! I became a BIG fan of R+, that was 2-4 years ago. Now I own all 5 full length albums of theirs, the LIVE AUS BERLIN CD and DVD, and the Lichspeilhaus(sp?) DVD as well.

My favorite Rammstein song is Engel, Gott weiß ich will kein Engel sein! :)

reply

Huge fan of Rammstien. You know they're great when I can get my grandmother and great grandmother enjoying them.
