"There are no bad deeds just deeds".

What exactly do you think this line, uttered by one minor character at the beginning of this movie, actually means? And is he really suggesting that good and evil are, if not the same, then two sides of the same coin rather than opposite extremes?

And also, was that line in any way meant to be symbolic or fitting into the overall movie and the themes it attempts to explore and how?

And isn't it also strange that for having a line that deals in moral nihilism so much, some of this movie's terrible deeds are not only (and rightly) not glorified or even SUBTLY PORTRAYED, but revel in their downright DETAILS of utter horror and nastiness - the sexual violation of Monica Bellucci's character being an especially STRONG example of this? And it IS portrayed as bad deed NO DOUBT in all of its explicit and detailed anti-glory. Though the fire extinguisher death part is also shown in horrific detail albeit differently too.
