Still don't understand why Aceveda after Vic

There was implication of ulterior motives in the first episode, now almost finished season one I am still not sure.

Vic was one of the reasons his precinct performed so well, and the captain was clearly a political animal, why trying to get rid of his top detective?

That was even before he had a chance for council seat.

It was all about getting ahead in his job. The Farm was a notoriously bad area and it went all the way up to corrupt police. Aceveda knew taking the job was a risk but he figured if he could clean up Farmington AND get headlines for busting The Strike Team he would get a lot of support from the Farmington voters.

But crime rate would be up, that could look bad.

So if he was heading exit already, having a political career lined up, I would understand. But not before that, in the first episode he did not have a backer yet.

IIRC, he came in hot and ready to make a change. Correct me if I'm wrong, but he came in knowing Vic and his team were doing side deals. He wanted a new strike team, led by the narc he brought in to infiltrate, who would really crack down on crime and not be slinging drugs and protection on the side. The best way to replace the team, since Vic was so chummy with Gilroy, was to bust them. Aceveda would get great headlines and his own team in one fell swoop.

That is a good explanation, thanks.

Vic is not someone he trusts and does not respect his authority, I guess he could be thinking of replacing him with someone else.
