Kavanaugh

I don't think I've ever witnessed a character that drew such raw emotion from me. Forest Whitakers portrayal of Jon Kavanaugh made me feel physically angry when watching it. I truly disliked the man as a human being. Anyone else have any characters from anything that really just made you get all up in your feelings? Haha

i quite loved this character. he saw Vic for what he is and wouldn't let go, they challenged each other and it was very interesting to watch.
that contempt you describe having for him is pretty much what i felt for Shane. i detested him to the core of my being.

I hated him initially because he was going after The Strike Team and at that time, I was still routing for them. Of course knowing now how the show ended, upon watching the show again, I route for him and enjoy the turmoil he causes for the team.

I don't know why people hate him so much. He was right about Vic and his team being dirty. I mean, he was doing his job up until he found out Vic screwed his ex-wife, which is dirty even for Vic.

People hate him so much cause Whitaker's performance was so damn good. He makes you feel uncomfortable as if it was actually you he was interrogating. He breaks all the little social norms that people generally aren't aware of until someone starts ignoring them. His entire tactic is to make people question themselves and damn he's good at it.

He did such a good job......and he was mostly right...that's the funny thing.

I just rewatched season 5 and he was AMAZING.

Excellent performance,, kept you on the edge every week, but really I kept telling myself, he was really just doing his job. But he knew vic did this, he just had a hard time proving it, so he brought down all those around vic since he couldn't get him directly..

Forrest W is a great actor and he owned that part. First time through I absolutely hated him since I was essentially still routing for Vic and the boys, but after knowing how the series ended, upon watching numerous times after, I always felt a bit bad for him.

I liked him until he planted the evidence. I knew they would nail his ass to the wall at that point.

This^ was essentially my reaction. I remember when Kavanaugh came in the way he did, and the direction they wrote the character, he was a force to be reckoned with. The writers and his raw performance made me believe he could take them down.

But when he resorted to planting evidence and went to their level, i knew Vic would bury him.

Up there with the best performances I've seen on television, as is Walton Goggins work as well.

If you hate him so much as I usually do then you should watch this first : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0997152/

Once you have watched that your hate towards this guy will come from deep within :) hahaha.

I've always thought of Forest Whitaker as a one-note, annoying actor. His idea of rage, or horror, or surprise, or just about any emotion is to bug his eyes out in a sustained outraged stare while hanging his mouth open. He also mumbles and slurs his words to the point that I have to turn on CC to tell what he is saying.

agree hated him (but loved the acting) and it made me want to root for Vic even more. it isn't til season 7 is where you finally start to want Vic to get what he deserves but season 5 made us cheer for Vic
