Any reason they changed most of the cast in the last season?

I was looking at the cast list and I notice a bunch of actors who's credits are either 2001-2005 or 2005-2006. Even Flex was cut out.

I was wondering why they decided to take the show in a new route. I mean watching the last season it doesn't even look similar to the earlier seasons.

add to that, the might have being trying to water down the show to.

I didn't hate the "second cast", but they never really did anything for me.

Just because she went off to college didn't mean they had to change the show around, they killed it with that crap. Rory went off to Yale on Gilmore Girls but they didn't change the show's concept.

What is Barbie's job? That bitch has some of everything!

That was killed the show for me..

Me also.

From what I remember reading, the producers just made a decision to "re-vamp" the series. They just up and dropped Flex (though he made some occasional appearances, Perry and Sicily, and weren't upfront about it. The producers wanted to "diversify" the show basically. Ironically, they got rid of the characters that kept the show going IMO.

yep...u hit the nail on the head, especially the last two sentences. I mean, i love Breanna & Arnaz, but a lot of things brought down the show after Breanna went off to college. They got rid of Flex, Spirit, and Duane. Then they added a whole new cast of ppl that nobody had even seen or heard about on the show before. It was just kind of random. I feel like the producers did it to try and draw in a bigger fan base or do something different but they shouldn't have because that's when the show definitely jumped the shark. I also didn't think Ray J was necessary on the show. Nothing against him but everything after she went to college was so random & all over the place, seemed like a totally different show.

the last season of that show should have been titled "Friends"

I watched a couple of episodes of One on One after it changed and couldn't get into it. It wasn't the same as with Flex, Kelly Prine, Spirit. I too felt like I was watching a different show Saved By The Bell: The New Class was a better then the re casted One on One.

The so-called "remix" season of One on One was a product of UPN's desperation during the death throes years before the merger with the WB. If you look at their schedule at the time, you will see that some of their other shows went through some retooling as well - Elise Neal left All of Us and instead of getting a new actress to play Tia, they rewrote the show so that Robert went from a great guy trying to integrate his family together to a shameless he-hoe pursuing all of his selfish desires until a rekindled romance with his ex-wife was hamfisted into the storyline before the show was put out its misery. In some ways, One on One got off better; it simply dropped all the characters people liked instead of ruining them.

I also think there was some malicious intent behind the shake up, though. Spirit and Duane could have easily migrated to Cuts but were specifically written out to prevent that. Well, Duane was written out. Spirit disappeared into thin air.

Ironically I thought the retooled version of this show reminded me of Saved By The Bell the college years for some reason

"Don't they know they're making love to one already dead?!"

Love Les Miserables!!!

If you want to talk about irony, SBTB: The College Years retained more of its cast than One on One did! If you really want to dig deep, the same can be said when Miss Bliss was retooled into SBTB.

I've always said that last season of One one One sucks! They basically got rid of all the people who made the show what is was. Briana, Arnaz, Ray J and a bunch unknowns weren't able to carry the show and it got cancelled. They didn't have to revamp the show that much. They could have easily had Spirit, Duane and Flex move to Cali too.

That part. Sicily Johnson who played Spirit revealed in an interview that producers told her her character not longer "fit" with the show and that's why they let her go. Talk about a load of bull. Spirit was my fave and both she and Duane had great chemistry with the others.

reply

Exactly! Spirit was my fave too.
