I have to agree, this is number one for me. and there really isnt a close second.
shareYea it is a genuinely brilliant and one of the best werewolf films ever, its up there with an American werewolf in London and the Howling

Yes, I just saw it recently for the first time and loved it. It had certainly crept under my radar for quite a long time. Well worth a viewing! Certainly the best I've seen in the werewolve genre IMO.
"I'm still not convinced these things didn't just escape from the local nut-house and forgot to shave or trim their nails."
Yes it is the best! Frankly the competition is not huge, why is it no-one can make another good werewolf movie? American Werewolf in London is a classic, yes, but still, Dog Soldiers is better. Ginger Snaps is perhaps my number two.
shareThe werewolf canon:
5. Ginger Snaps
4. The Wolf Man (1941)
3. Dog Soldiers
2. The Howling
1. An American Werewolf in London

This film beats out The Howling as no. 1. American werewolf is at the bottom in my top five. Fine film but the one werewolf and the storyline doesn't compare to these two films. The others mentioned I would rank above American Werewolf too. Only My opinion lads.
shareWhat, no-one chirping up for Twilight? Or Teen Wolf, perhaps?

This and Jack Nicholson's Wolf share the best werewolf-movie award.
