This is severly underrated.

How could it be underrated? Adam Sandler is in it.

At 5.5 its rather overrated.

You're in luck, it cracked the 5.6 barrier. I haven't seen it but for whatever reason all good comedies are underrated.

I think it's middle of the road for Sandler. I would give something between 6.5 and 7/10. It's definitely not his best work, but there are much worse movies than Mr. Deeds.

completely agree, very underrated.
sure this movie isnt a blockbuster drama with A-list actors doing scenes that tear at the audience's souls but the movie has a huge heart with many moral, ethical and philosophical ideals throughout and if people who hate on this, cant find a reason to eat some popcorn and watch movies like this that dont take themselves seriously, then why should they do that?
i mean this aint schindlers list, or shawshank redemption, but it has the same soul fueling heart-filled messages of anti-hate, be decent to one another as much as possible, bolster good people and eject evil greedy corrupt douches that cant live without backstabbing someone else for some more meaningless currency. i mean humans can be so much like longfellow but they choose not to.
