If your like me watching like 78 Supes or Man Of Steel there was never time when we see young Clark and think he's got to be Superboy.
Having him be Superboy feels time worn and kind of takes away the spectacle of his first public appearance as Superman.
The Blur comes close to Clark being Superboy.
If you wanted to do Superboy go the Superman Secret Origin route of him being an anonymous hero until he goes public as an adult in Metropolis.
In the comics there were a couple of different Superboy characters... one was from stories being told about another Earth and one was kinda a clone of Superman... there were others too but I'm not very familiar with them.
