Too Soapy for Me

My brother loved this show because he's a Superman fan, and he has the entire series on dvd. But frankly, a lot of things really bugged me about it, and I couldn't stand watching after a few episodes. I'll list them here:

- the theme song got annoying after 3 or 4 listenings
- they beat a dead horse with the "meteor freaks" theme first season just to keep the show going
- too many attractive people (and we're talking, "everyone looks like a model in a town in KANSAS), way more than what's normal even for a superhero soap opera that claims it isn't a soap opera
- Chlole and later Lois trying way too hard to be cute
- ridiculous plotlines, like linking native Americans and Kryptonians together
- it seemed like every other episode some attractive sociopath or nutjob was coming through town to wreck up the place
- nobody ever suspected that it was not Clark's doing whenever he became the bad boy under the influence of red Kryptonite
- Lana being a perfect half-Asian barbie doll that had all sorts of soap-opera-worthy crap happen to her (and I mean "happen to her" literally, because she wasn't that good of an actress and was not really a go-to-girl unless it got her into trouble)
- downplaying Clark's powers in favor of boring, everyday drama
- Mrs. Kent looking way younger and prettier than she normally does (I don't recall her ever being a beautiful older redhead in earlier incarnations).
- putting Metropolis in the center of the country, when everyone KNOWS it's on the east coast in the general area where New York normally is (of course, they have Gotham, but still, there are other cities nearby in that region)

I could go on, but those were the things that irritated me most and made me not want to watch. Anybody else feel this way about the show?
