Watch Black Dynamite, not this nonsense

You wanna see a Blacksploitation parody that's actaully smart and funny? Watch Black Dynamite. Undercover Brother is a lame duck, complete with the gamut of tired, boring, low-brow jokes and cliched stereotypes. You deserve better. It was good for one thing though, it reminded me how nice it is to not see Eddie Griffin, Chris Kattan, or Denise Richards in movies anymore. Hacks.

Black Dynamite is a smarter movie, but UB has its moments, seriously watch it again its better than you thing

"...I'm a contradiction"

reply

BD was more consistent. UC had too many groaner moments. But watch them both.

Agreed, Black Dynamite was hilarious.

I guess that's why I used to complain about this film, it wasn't funny. Having racist jokes is tolerable if the jokes make you laugh, this movie failed to do that.

This movie is hilarious and that's coming from someone who easily puts Black Dynamite in their list of top comedies of all time. There is room for both. Black Dynamite has more subtle jokes that you might not catch on the first viewing. Undercover Brother is more in your face but still very funny. Both need you to understand to have a least a little knowledge of blaxploitation films, Black Dynamite way more then Undercover Brother. I think Undercover Brother can be enjoyed by the casual viewer much more than Black Dynamite. Black Dynamite is made in a way that the jokes require that you have a knowledge of the low production values of 70's movies and the attitudes of the decade.

Yeah I agree Black Dynamite was great, Undercover Brother has some funny moments but it just can't compare to BD.

My ignore list is quite large.

I consider them two really different movies. BD was an homage at the same time it is a parody and they went to a lot of effort to get the feel right. UB is more like an extended SNL skit with less interest in the blacksploitation except as window dressing and more interest in just being slapstick funny. I mean c'mon, every scene with Griffin doing donuts in his car while holding a big orange soda is just hilarious even if you don't attach cultural stereotypes to it. It's way funnier if you have that knowledge of "cool" from the 70's but I think they were going for more general low-brow comedy than statement. I feel BD while hilarious was going the other way.

I have to completely agree with karimamin.

I am a huge fan of goofy movies. But yeah, in exploitation movies this comes in last. I am also a huge fan of Michael Jai White, I even seen a movie of his...where he had a greasy curl and I was like WTf that gap between his teeth - only 1 guy LOL

So I tried to get into Black Dynamite but I fell asleep like 3 times. I don't remember if I "ever" finished it. Now with Undercover Brother and I'm Gonna Get You Sucka, nooooooooo it does NOT take 1 trillion years to get a feel of the movie. You'll be easily entertained within the first 10 mins. That's why they're classics, due to popularity/word of mouth. Now Black Dynamite got huge reviews on IMDB. Now I don't know what they were smoking or drinking but Michael Jai White is an amazing "action star", but doing comedy like movies in my opinion isn't his forte. IMDB has hands down the WORST reviewers compared to paid big name movie reviewers. I'll try again to watch BD, but I'll have to drink Monster or Gatorade because it's slooooooooow. Maybe not Matrix/Transformers slow but it was slow.

Black Dynamite was tired/derivative, this one is a satirical masterpiece; it will be a huge cult classic someday, mark my words sucka.

"that's actaully smart and funny?" They're both smart and funny.

"low-brow" Oh heavens forbid! Black Dynamite has "low-brow" stuff in it too. You deserve better than to judge your comedies by whether the jokes are "low-brow."
