Full Retard
Sean Penn totally went full retard in this movie. That's why he didn't get an Oscar nom.

shareThis thread depresses the hell out of me. Completely losing faith in humanity, here. :(
And for the record, yes, I know where the quote comes from. I thought Tropic Thunder was utter *beep* *beep* and it bewilders me how people thought it was funny. I'm not even entirely referring to the offensive nature of the film, I honestly thought the comedy was *beep* tragic. I wish I'd salted and burned the film reel when I had to project the *beep* thing.

Well, when RDJ recited the theme song to the Jeffersons, another corker of a scene. I thought Tropic Thunder would be the kind of movie I would watch one time, but I keep watching it to see certain scenes... the movie is bloody hilarious.
No he didn't WIN because he went full retard.
shareTo his credit he pulled it back a bit in "I Am Sam 2: Still 'Tarded"
shareUgh. Maybe "Full Developmentally Disabled" would do the trick but that would be too long and too generic as we are talking about Sam's level of intelligence.
Also Still 'Tarded? How could he pull it back a bit (of course, that isn't even a ral flick!)
Please do not use the term "full retard." It is very offensive to people who have disabilities and their loved ones. Many people have misconceptions about intellectual disabilities. "Full retard" and other such terms do nothing to help with these misconceptions. People who have intellectual disabilities are people first. They have strengths, talents, and weaknesses just like everyone else. They also have feelings. It is inconsiderate not to consider how our words might affect them and their families.
shareLike any retards are going to be reading this thread...
shareI have a loved one who has Down Syndrome. She is 10. She can read. She is very bright and has a great sense of direction. People with intellectual disabilities have a varied range of strengths and talents. Some have IQ's in the "normal" range.
Most people who make fun of people who have an intellectual disability are probably not just going to do it on a thread such as this. They very likely will do it in person. They, at least, will do it by their actions.
Furthermore, anyone can be in an accident that results in some form of disability. Some of these disabilities can cause effects similar to that of an intellectual disability. If this happen to you, wouldn't you want to be treated with respect and kindness.
Sure, but I wouldn't whine about some stranger saying "retard" on the internet, because that would be, well, retarded.
shareI don't agree. It's not called whining. It's called caring about others and standing up for what is right. Many people that use that term "retard" are using it to make fun of people who have disabilities. Many people use the boards to say mean things about people who have disabilities. They also have misconceptions about people who have various disabilities. Go look at Chris Burke's (Life Goes On) web page, and you'll see what I mean. Everyone, including those who have disabilities, should be treated with kindness. Also, many of those "strangers" probably make fun of people who have disabilities out in public, and not just on message boards. Furthermore, just because the internet offers some amount of anonymity, does not mean it is right to use it to make fun people who have disabilities or anyone else.

Jodie Foster in Nell. Went full retard. Didn't get the Oscar.
sharelol
'it never occurred to me that skin could determine identity'
i find it funny how in threads like these you always get a few thin skinned... shall i say it? retards... who take the word out of context and go on about how it's offensive
if you're so easily offended please get off the internet because YOU WILL BE OFFENDED
Other actors who've gone full retard and got nothing for it:
Ahmed Best (Jar Jar Binks) in Star Wars Episode 1
Ernie Hudson (Solomon) in The Hand That Rocks the Cradle (didn't play just a full retard, but a full retard hero!)
Jeff Daniels and Jim Carrey in Dumb and Dumber (not to mention Eric Christian Olsen and Derek Richardson in Dumb and Dumberer)
Eric Cartman in "Up the Down Steroid"
HOWEVER....partially militating against this whole "never go full retard" thing is Larry Drake, who brought home two Emmys for going full retard in "L.A. Law."
