Is this movie supposed to prove something? I mean you put an acadamy award winner in a movie like Sean Penn and make him play a retarded person (no offense to anyone), should we expect a good movie? I mean this has been done manny times before and I am getting sick of it. All these movies are meant to do is make us realize the problems of society. Maybe if they would have got another actor then Sean Penn, develop a new plot, and make the movie a little a little shorter in length, I would have liked it.

I don't know what your on. But this movie was amazing and Sean Penn couldn't have done a better job!

A mentally challanged man raises his own child, concieved by a prostitute, with the help of others, including his MC friends. She begins to develop an education that is higher than her fathers by the first grade, I believe. She starts to feel embarrassed around him because of what others at her school are saying. She realizes that he is "different" than other dads. She is placed into foster care and comes to an understanding that she can't live without her father. She sneaks into his apartment each night and proves to everyone that he is more than capable of raising her. If anything, she has become a very strong, attentive, mature girl because of his condition.

If you really feel that way slysty6345, than maybe you shouldn't watch any tv or movies at that matter. You can't hide away from the problems we face in society, its inevitable. That is a poor excuse to why you believe the movie was horrible.
