Lindsay Lohan as Laura Brown

This is definitely my favorite movie ever. I've probably seen it 500 times, and it has gotten me through some VERY dark times.

Can anyone else see Lindsay Lohan in the Laura Brown role if this movie was made now. I don't even particularly like her but there's just something about her that I noticed while watching Mean Girls. I feel like she would have been perfect in this role. I love Julianne Moore in it as well but I think she was just a bit old for the part. I think Laura Brown was supposed to be late 20s.

Lindsay Lohan!! u kidding, right??

huh? lindsay lohan ? huh?

I can see Lindsey Lohan as a booger in Virginia Woolf's nose but that's about it.

We'll see whose the filthiest person alive! We'll just see!

I'm just the type of person who likes to see the underdog surprise everyone. It's just a really cool thing to see. Don't get me wrong, Virginia Woolf is my favorite author, and probably the biggest inspiration to me besides my parents. I respect her and I really think it was just kinda neat to think of a hypothetical situation in which the film was made today and Lindsay Lohan turned out a fantastic performance as Laura Brown. I think she'd have what it takes and... that's what's kind of cool about it to me. She's actually a good actress. Julianne Moore, I love WAY more, don't get me wrong, but Lindsay Lohan isn't a hack. I dunno. I was just throwin' that out there for some reason. She has a similar look, IMO, to Julianne, and would've fit in well, as long as she brought what it takes to the table, in this role. She could play that hopelessness you imagine seeing in the character's eyes. Julianne Moore of course did an AMAZING job. I was just bein' hypothetical :)

Sienna Miller more like.

If this film was going to be made nowadays, Laura would be Julianne Moore. End of the story!

lindsey lohan can't act.
it would be an insult to put her with real actors working their craft.
she is just the current thang in her 15 minutes.

You know, I happen to be a real snob when it comes to acting...and I think Lohan's actually a very fine actress. I've just seen her in a few things, but she was unusually moving in Georgia Rule, and had a lovely presence in Bobby. Plus, she's certainly a gorgeous woman with classic facial features (when she hasn't been up all night clubbing!)

So, were her personality and circumstances different, I can see her doing a great range of roles.

She was a gawky, very funny-looking little girl and has grown into looking like a transvestite with a very bad methadone experience. She's horrible.

This is what transvestites look like these days?

I think your making the mistake of blurring a performer's personal life with their work.

It hasn't even been a decade. Time for a remake already? The hours is perfect the way it is. No remake will ever be necessary.

And Lindsey Lohan??? Seriously? No seriously. Seriously? Really now. SERIOUSLY. I'm gonna ask you one more time and I am being totally serious. SERIOUSLY?

Seriously though. The only thing that woman deserves is the heap of mess she's in right now. Not to play one of the most amazing characters ever written, played by one of the best actresses.

Talk about biting off the hand of your great fortune right off of it's arm. Lindsey Lohan?? Come on now.

i agree with cookiela - i think Lindsey Lohan has real talent. Its one of the reasons her train wreck life is such a waste. But i think Julianne Moore is one of the best actresses in the world. I dont think there's any way Lindsey Lohan could carry this role off with anywhere near the skill and resonance of Julianne Moore.

I look at Lindsay Lohan and all I see is wasted talent and wasted opportunities. I hope she gets it together before it is too late.

Although she is a good actress, she would be all wrong for the part of Laura Brown.

I'll see her as Laura Brown only if she drowns during the water in the motel room sequence.

I agree. Lindsay can do an excellent job when she's not sidelined by boredom, bad management and media. How many greats have fallen into this scenario..........Liz, Marilyn,Judy Garland........it's so very sad that this story repeats itself over and over again......just like the lives of so many normal everyday human beings. Maybe if we all started saying something positive and gave these fragile souls some emotional support instead of criticism, we wouldn't see so many sad stories on the news.

OH MY GOD. . . .This the funniest thread I have ever EVER EVER EVER read on IMDB. Comparing Julianne Moore and Lindsay Lohan. . . I don't know if I am going to laugh or cry.

Just to be clear and to answer your question, No. I do not think Lindsay Lohan could have portrayed the role Julianne Moore should have won an academy award for.

I don't think anyone will agree with you there. . . .
