This movie REALLY deserves a sequel

C'Mon! It's got "franchise" written all over it!!! This was the movie that i expected "The Bourne Identity" to be. But TBI was lackluster and KoTD totally rocked!!!

This could be Li's answer to the ho-hum string of Bond movies. The cool thing about the chemistry is that it really does lend itself to different scenarios for more in the series. I thought everyone was great in the movie, but to paraphrase M:I-2, "every great hero needs a great villain. the "Richard" charcater was really really good!

reply

KOD truly is great. you can't possibly mention waste like TBI in a sentence with KOD.
yeah! i hope chris nahon also feels obliged to direct a sequel! and of course richard is great. by the way his name is tcheky karyo and acted in other great movies such as: crying freeman and dobermann (check them out). very precise obervation of yours concerning the hero vs villain achievement in the movie, the movie deserves 10/10!

reply

I agree but i don't think the box office was there. Jet and Besson just finished filimng a project together though and it sounds interesting to say the least. There is also talk of jet being in a sequel to the professional. with natlie portman's character.

So doubtful.

Liars don't worry as long as there are enough Liars"-X-files final show.

reply

Eh...I don't know. The idea of a sequel sounds sort of iffy to me. The ending left me with a feeling that Jet Li was going to go with Bridget Fonda's character, not go back to China and do another mission.

reply

Another mission...with Fonda trained to be his 99(get smart reference) Tthe daughter also trained to be a little bad ass. it could work.

Why is the acuputure doo-doo. does it have to be fact? come on it's secret agent movie.

Also CGI and the sequels you metioned...Matrix the orginal was totally CGI. Reloaded sucked but i thought revolutions was good. Blade 2 was also 1,000 times better than the orginal!

ha-ha you are both a little more concerned about this than the KOD message board needs to be. Again it is a secret agent movie who cares either way?

I would love the idea of a sequal. But I feel like they really can't make a sequal. They would be running on empty.

it would be cool if they did make it into a series! I'd definitely watch it!

reply

Tell me what good story line will make Jet Li come back?

reply

I'm sure Jet Li could come up with a reasonable pretext for a sequel.

After all, he did WRITE this one.

It does deserve a sequel but there are certain movies which should not have sequels, KotD being one of them, although I do think Jet Li and Luc Besson should team up more often, I know they got Unleashed coming out.

I think Jet Li should start a series thou, something like Die Hard but starring Jet Li and more martial arts. Written by Luc Besson. And Directed by Luc Besson. Which also stars Jean Reno as the police captain and Ray Liotta as the Bad Guy! Okay, Im going a bit overboard!

Good question... there should be no movie sequels, they usually suck compared to the first movie.

reply

Not always though.
Case in point is Aliens, the sequel to Alien, both starring Sigourney Weaver.
I believe Aliens was far superior to the original film.
That's only one example of sequels matching up to, or indeed outshining, the originals.

Why does every good movie have to have a sequel? The memories and quality of many good movies are ruined by the need to franchise it into some sort of legacy. Why can't we just enjoy the movie, and leave it at that? Part of why the movie is so good, is that it leaves you to wonder (or automatically assume) that Jessica (Fonda) takes her daugther back to the states and/or settles with Liu Jian (Li). You really don't know, and really, do you have to? Sequels (and prequels) today are just thrown together with no regard for the original film. This leads to disasters at the box office, and amongst the fans with how they now view the movie(s), and sometimes with the careers of those involved.

It was a great movie, but any sequel will either be a tired carbon copy, or a sad attempt to continue something that didn't need to go on.

reply

OH GOD LET THERE BE A SEQUEL!!!

reply

All I have to say is everyone get serious... This movie WILL NOT have a sequel, what will it be? "RICHARD" returning from the dead? Or... maybe Jet Li's lifestyle with Bridget Fonda in North Dakota... hahaha... In addition, producers, won't pick up the idea for a sequel because the plot, and themes just won't work.. and if some crazy idiotic company does decide to take it on WOW they would lose BIG BUCKS....
Think logical PLEASE!!!

reply

i like li, but i thought this movie was one of his worst.

but if there is a sequel, i hope chris nahon is not directing again.
