Never gave that Nobel speech. Never got pens.

Did put his foot on his wife's neck at a company picnic.

Did send letters to his Jewish colleagues calling them "Jewboys".

Did father an illegitimate kid and dump the mother for a wealthier student.

The screenplay for this film won an Academy Award.

Goddamn.

That's become a Ron Howard trademark......make movies based on true stories, and then totally rewrite history!
He's also made it an art form, to assassinate the character of people like Max Baer in Cinderella Man and Jack Swigert in Apollo 13 , by portraying them as monsters (in Baer's case) and unwanted incompetents ( in Swigerts case)I n the interest of "giving the story some dramatic effect"!
Max Baer Jr famously said of his father's depiction "Howard didn't have to make my father out to be a monster, just to make Jimmy Braddock a hero!" after viewing Cinderella Man, and seeing his father portrayed as uncaring for having killed a man in the ring, when in actuality it haunted him for the rest of his life!

Let's keep in mind that A Beautiful Mind is not a documentary, and it doesn't even try and pose as one (i.e. it's not a "mockumentary"). It's just a feature film dramatisation of John Nash's story, and doesn't claim to be anything else.

OP did you watch the bonus disk where it showed Nash in real life giving a speech at the Nobel prize ceremony. It really happened.

Was it a speech or a lecture about his work? I was under the impression the winners give lectures.
